Yet Another Reason to Vote Against the Anti-Worker Amendments

  • by: jenny4304

The Denver Business Journal just went up with an article about a Ciruli poll showing voters want to leave existing labor laws alone:

Most Colorado voters want to maintain the balance between business and labor, according to a survey from Ciruli Associates.

The survey, which was released Thursday, showed that 56 percent of voters polled agreed with the statement “state laws concerning labor unions and organizing workers should stay as they are now. Organizing workers into unions does not need to be made easier. There is a good balance between labor unions and business in Colorado.”

There you have it.

Colorado voters want to avoid costly fights between business and labor and instead see them work together to better our state.

I got my ballot yesterday and can’t wait to vote down all the deceptive amendments on the ballot that would change our state constitution. That includes the ones that would alter the existing labor/business balance: 47, 49 and 54.

  1. Be it Enacted by the People of the State of Colorado:

SECTION 1. Article XVIII of the constitution of the state of Colorado is amended BY THE ADDITION OF A NEW SECTION to read:

    Section 16. Right to work.

    (1) THIS AMENDMENT SHALL BE KNOWN AND MAY BE CITED AS THE “COLORADO RIGHT TO WORK AMENDMENT”.

(2)(a) NO PERSON SHALL, AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT, BE REQUIRED TO:

    (I) BE A MEMBER OF A LABOR UNION; AND

(II) PAY ANY DUES, FEES, ASSESSMENTS, OR OTHER CHARGES OF ANY KIND TO A LABOR UNION OR TO ANY CHARITY OR OTHER THIRD PARTY, IN LIEU OF SUCH PAYMENTS.

(2)(b) NOTHING IN THIS SECTION SHALL PREVENT ANY PERSON FROM VOLUNTARILY BELONGING OR VOLUNTARILY PROVIDING FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO A LABOR UNION.

    (3) ANY PERSON WHO DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY VIOLATES ANY PROVISION OF THIS SECTION COMMITS A MISDEMEANOR AND UPON CONVICTION THEREOF SHALL BE PUNISHED BY A FINE IN AN AMOUNT EQUIVALENT TO THE MOST STRINGENT MISDEMEANOR CLASSIFICATION PROVIDED BY LAW.

    (4) THIS SECTION SHALL APPLY TO ALL UNION EMPLOYMENT CONTRACTS ENTERED INTO AFTER THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS SECTION AND SHALL APPLY TO ANY RENEWAL OR EXTENSION OF ANY EXISTING UNION CONTRACT.

    (5) AS USED IN THIS SECTION, “LABOR UNION” MEANS ANY ORGANIZATION OF ANY KIND, OR AGENCY OR EMPLOYEE REPRESENTATION COMMITTEE OR ORGANIZATION, THAT EXISTS FOR THE PURPOSE, IN WHOLE OR IN PART, OF DEALING WITH EMPLOYERS CONCERNING WAGES, RATES OF PAY, HOURS OF WORK, OTHER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT, OR OTHER FORMS OF COMPENSATION; ANY ORGANIZATION THAT EXISTS FOR THE PURPOSE OF COLLECTIVE BARGAINING OR OF DEALING WITH EMPLOYERS CONCERNING GRIEVANCES; AND ANY ORGANIZATION PROVIDING OTHER MUTUAL AID OR PROTECTION IN CONNECTION WITH EMPLOYMENT.

SECTION 2. Effective date. This amendment shall take effect upon proclamation of the vote by the governor.

    1. Section 16. Right to freeload.

      (1) THIS AMENDMENT SHALL BE KNOWN AND MAY BE CITED AS THE “COLORADO RIGHT TO FREELOAD AMENDMENT”.

(2)(a) NO PERSON SHALL, AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT, BE REQUIRED TO:

      (I) FIGURE OUT THAT THEY DON’T HAVE TO JOIN A UNION AND THAT RIGHT IS ALREADY GUARANTEED BY FEDERAL LAW; AND

(II) PAY FOR UNION NEGOTIATION OF HIGHER PAY OR BENEFITS.

(2)(b) NOTHING IN THIS SECTION SHALL PREVENT SUCKERS FROM GIVING MONEY TO A UNION SO GREEDY COWORKERS CAN FREELOAD OFF THEIR EFFORTS FOR HIGHER PAY OR FAIR WORKING CONDITIONS.

      (3) ANY PERSON WHO DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY SUPPORTS UNIONS SHALL BE HORSEWHIPPED BY JAKE JABS SINCE THAT COORS KID HAS NEVER WORKED AN HONEST DAY IN HIS LIFE AND WE THINK JABS HAS MORE GINGER IN HIM.

      (4) THIS SECTION SHALL APPLY TO ALL UNION EMPLOYMENT CONTRACTS, NOT THAT THEIR WILL BE ANY MORE OF THEM. YEAHAW, COLORADO IS GOING TO BE JUST LIKE ALL THE SOUTHERN STATES A LAND FOR THE RICH TO GRIND THE WORKERS FACE DOWN IN THE MUD BECAUSE THERE WON’T BE A DAMN THING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT..

      (5) AS USED IN THIS SECTION, “LABOR UNION” MEANS ANY ORGANIZATION OF ANY KIND, OR AGENCY OR EMPLOYEE REPRESENTATION COMMITTEE OR ORGANIZATION, THAT EXISTS FOR THE PURPOSE, IN WHOLE OR IN PART, TO PREVENT EMPLOYEERS FROM FUCKING OVER EMPLOYEES. IF WE COULD BAN OSHA FROM THE WORKPLACE WITH THIS, SO MUCH THE BETTER.

SECTION 2. Effective date. This amendment shall take effect upon proclamation of the vote by the governor.

      1. I notice Libzees didn’t comment. Probably because he was too busy picking little pieces of your shoe out of his butt, because you just kicked his repetitive ASS.
