Obama's ties to Pentagon bomber

  • by: Stringer

Q- What do Barack Obama and Osama Bin Laden have in common?

A- They both have friends who bombed our Pentagon !

Now, before you start crying negative attack ad, ask yourself.

1) Are the facts presented truthful?

Truth is a defence to libel and slander, both in a court of law, and the court of public opinion.

  1. First off, why isn’t McCain man enough to say anything to Obama’s face? Is McCain such a coward that he has to hide behind Palin and his wife to the heavy lifting for him.

Second, all of the lies coming from Palin/McCain keep driving their poll numbers down since people don’t care about these lies. They care about those who are responsible for BOMBING OUR ECONOMY! McCain is an economic hitman with his nearly three decades of deregulation agenda.

But by all means, stay in wing-nut-land discussing conspiracy theories with your tinfoil hat on while everyone else worries about the economy.

  2. after having read this blog for so long you might know how to spell Barack (ONE R) Obama’s name.

I’ll tell Johhn McCainn you are voting for him though.

  3. I’ve served on several nonprofit boards. I never vetted the personal backgrounds of the others who were on those boards. Have you?

Serving on a board with someone does not make you their “friend.” Obama was never friends with Ayers, and it’s a LIE to say he was.

(Of course, McCain is “friends” with everyone: “My friends…” So if anyone in his audience is a criminal, is McCain their “friend”?)

Nice try, but this is old news and a blatant attempt to distract from McCain’s failure to deal with our sinking economy in a responsible manner. His latest “let’s buy everyone’s mortgages” stunt was laughably insane.

    1. NO, you don’t do a background check on everyone on a non profit board, but you do check out the motives and background when that “someone” launches your political campaign, and has a fundraiser in their home you speak at.

Anyone with half a brain declines an invitation from the founder of the radical Weather Underground, hosted by his lovely wife, former terrorist and most wanted felon Bernadine Dohrn.

“You Don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows”

A founder of the Weatherman group, Dohrn was a member of the “Weather Bureau” (name later changed to “Central Committee”). Larry Grathwohl, an FBI informant who was with the Weatherman from autumn 1969 through spring 1970, considered her one of the two top leaders of the organization, along with Bill Ayers.

During this period, the group organized the October 1969 Days of Rage riot in Chicago, which Dohrn led During the 1970s, the Weathermen bombed federal buildings and police stations. Prior to the March 6, 1970 Greenwich Village townhouse explosion, in which three members of the group were killed as a bomb was being constructed, all members of Weatherman went underground. The group then changed its name to Weather Underground.

Dohrn went underground in early 1970, engaging in bombing activities. In a 1994 interview, Dohrn said that while the group carried out some bombings of buildings, it did not target people, and the group’s actions were justified as a proper response to violent government actions: “We only did a couple, and they were carefully done. They involved property and were not meant to harm anybody. They were symbolic and done so that everyone would instantly recognize what was being said. It was ‘armed propaganda’. Sure, it was violent, and it’s hard to justify twenty years later, but it was extremely restrained and a highly appropriate response to the level of violence being rained nationally and internationally”.[15]

Role in policymaking, ideology and public statements for Weather Underground

Dohrn was a principal signatory on the group’s “Declaration of a State of War” in 1970 that formally declared “war” on the U.S. Government, and completed the group’s transformation from political advocacy to violent action. Dohrn also co-wrote and published the subversive manifesto Prairie Fire in 1974, and participated in the covertly-filmed Underground in 1976.

In late 1975, the Weather Underground put out an issue of a magazine, Osawatamie, which carried an article by Dohrn, “Our Class Struggle”, described as a speech given to the organization’s cadres on September 2 of that year. In the article, Dohrn clearly stated support for Communist ideology:[16]

We are building a communist organization to be part of the forces which build a revolutionary communist party to lead the working class to seize power and build socialism. […] We must further the study of Marxism-Leninism within the WUO [Weather Underground Organization]. The struggle for Marxism-Leninism is the most significant development in our recent history. […] We discovered thru [sic] our own experiences what revolutionaries all over the world have found – that Marxism-Leninism is the science of revolution, the revolutionary ideology of the working class, our guide to the struggle […]”

According to a 1974 FBI study of the group, Dohrn’s article signaled a developing commitment to Marxism-Leninism that had not been clear in the groups previous statements, despite trips to Cuba by some members of the group before and after Weather Underground was formed, and contact with Vietnamese communists there.

While on the run from police, Dohrn married another Weatherman leader, Bill Ayers, with whom she has two children. During the last years of their underground life, Dohrn and Ayers resided in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago, where they used the aliases Christine Louise Douglas and Anthony J. Lee.

When George Stephanopoulos so rudely queried Sen. Barack Obama about his long-standing connections to unrepentant domestic terrorist William Ayers during a recent Democratic debate, many conservative newshounds cheered. At long last, Americans had been introduced to a name that only a handful of right-leaning news sources had previously explored. Obama challenged the question’s relevancy, carefully avoided details, and pivoted to another topic of discussion. The damage was done, though, and his campaign was forced to issue a “fact” sheet to debunk any nasty implications the “distraction” of a question may have raised. Team Obama informed readers that a) Obama himself is far too young to have been a member of the Weather Underground, b) The mainstream media consensus is that Obama’s ties to Ayers are irrelevant, c) All charges against Ayers were dropped, and d) Ayers and his wife, Bernadine Dohrn, are actually pretty “mainstream” these days. Three of these four defenses ring hollow.

First, let’s stipulate the obvious: Barack Obama was a young boy when Ayers and Dohrn were blowing up federal buildings, running from authorities, and warning Americans to “guard your children.” Obama is not a terrorist, and he should not be held responsible for the Weather Underground’s criminal acts.

Next, let’s examine Obama’s claim that his connection to Ayers and Dohrn is “tenuous” and “phony.” Is it phony that Obama’s political coming-out party in the mid-1990s was hosted by Ayers and Dohrn? What about the panel discussions in which Ayers and Obama both took part-that were organized by Michelle Obama? Tenuous? I suppose the goodbye party for prominent Israel basher and Arafat apologist Rashid Khalidi, attended by Obama, Ayers and Dohrn, is also unworthy of discussion. That Khalidi himself hosted a fundraiser for Obama’s first Congressional campaign must be completely irrelevant, too.

Then there’s the pesky fact that Obama and Ayers served together on the board of the Woods Fund for three years-and continued to do so even after Ayers was quoted in the New York Times fondly recalling his days as a bomber, and despairing that he hadn’t “done more.” (This quote, the Obama fact sheet reminds us, comes from an interview that just happened to be published on 9/11-Ayers had made the incendiary remarks earlier. I don’t know about you, but that makes me feel a lot better). The funds Obama and Ayers helped control at the Woods Foundation funneled thousands of dollars into both Khalidi’s organization and the now-infamous Trinity United Church of Christ. Irrelevant, phony distractions? So what if the Obama campaign’s top strategist concedes that the Senator’s relationship with the terrorist is “friendly”? I apologize for even devoting this much attention to such tenuous and unimportant information.

Obama’s “fact” sheet then brings us the crucial bulletin that all charges against Ayers were dropped, and that he spent no time in jail. Absolutely true. Except a minor detail was omitted: Ayers openly admits he is “guilty as sin” but “free as a bird.” Charges were dropped because federal authorities overstepped their legal bounds in pursuing the Weathermen, not because the charges were unfounded. Perhaps this distinction was too nuanced for a man who found it appropriate to compare his racist pastor to his own grandmother, and an unrepentant terrorist to a respected United States Senator. The Obama campaign also curiously chose not to “fact check” Bernadine Dohrn’s criminal record, which includes a seven-month stint in jail for refusing to cooperate with a murder investigation.

Finally, and maybe most preposterously, the document pronounces Ayers and Dohrn to be “respectable” members of the “mainstream” community. After all, it has been seven years or so since Ayers said he didn’t regret setting bombs. That’s ancient history. Today, these folks are pillars of the level-headed, mainstream Chicago community. Enter the audio.

I happened upon this content as I conducted some basic research into Ayers and Dohrn for a special report my boss, Sandy Rios, was planning to run on her daily radio program in Chicago. The former terrorists both gave speeches at a reunion of aging radicals in November of 2007, and the audio is available on the web for anyone with a computer to hear. Considering that The Sandy Rios Show is a relatively small operation without a small army of researchers at our disposal, I initially assumed that the intrepid journalists that populate our mainstream media had beaten us to the punch on this story. They hadn’t. The audio linked above clearly demonstrates that the terrorist tandem is neither respectable nor mainstream by any reasonable definition.

Dohrn refers to America as “the beast” and “the monster” while rambling on about the United States’ obsession with empire and our white supremacist way of life. She says she believes the US government to be the greatest purveyor of violence in the world. Ayers, not to be outdone, cheers an ongoing “spirit of rebellion…and resistance.” He favorably quotes Mao Zedong’s premier, Zhou Enlai. He calls contemporary America a place of “great stress, and oppression, and authoritarianism,” and bemoans “a kind of rising incipient American form of fascism.” (Jonah Goldberg, call your office). Does Barack Obama expect Americans to believe these deranged rantings represent anything close to mainstream commentary?

As more and more facts about Obama’s relationship with Ayers and Dohrn emerge, expect the Obamites to intensify their insistence that such matters are “distractions,” “old politics,” or-as Andrew Sullivan has already labeled this issue-part of the right wing “freakshow.” With all due respect, I’m not sure “freakshow” is the most effective pejorative to hurl at those being critical of two unrepentant anti-American terrorists. As the Obama campaign continues in its efforts to kill this story, they’d be well served to avoid issuing any more “fact” sheets riddled with half-truths, lies of omission, and falsifiable claims.

        1. He is a well-known and controversial Professor of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. And Obama wants you to believe that he knew nothing of Ayers views or politics even though Barack participated in public forums with him there? I don’t think so.

But that is not all. Barack also was essentially an employee of Bill Ayers for eight years.

In 1995, the Chicago Annenberg Challenge was created to raise funds to help reform the Chicago public schools. One of the architects of the Challenge was none other than Professor Bill Ayers. Ayers co-wrote the initial grant proposal and proudly lists himself on his own website as the co-founder of the Challenge.

And who did William Ayers, co-creator of the Challenge, help select as the new director of the board for this program? Barack Obama. Barack Obama was the first Chairman of the Board of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. This appointment came at a crucial time in Barack’s life. He was on the verge of challenging longtime state Senator Alice Palmer for her job. When Barack decided to run, it is no surprise that he turned to William Ayers and his wife, Bernardine Dohrn for help in organizing the campaign and in hosting his first fundraiser in the district.
