Of course Jake’s only big reason is some of the other anti-union states around us have right to work. Not any other arguments with any meat. But since he is one of the most well known persons in the state, I’m afraid non-union people will agree with him.
He can take his cheap furniture and…

American Furniture’s Jabs backs right-to-work measure.
I for one will never make a purchase at un-American’s Furniture’s.
NO ON 47
I must admit, the really expensive elitist piece we got from Stickley (North Carolina).
But you can’t go wrong with AFW, especially for the kids stuff, end tables, rugs, carpeting, etc…
As a former finish carpenter and someone who still builds pieces of furniture on occasion–very few manufacturers have the quality of Stickley, but many used to.
If I want cheap crap I’ll order it from Ikea.
The right to choose benefits you and restoring old pieces can really deliver a great look to the house, condo or apartment.
Unions built the American Middle class.
I used to know Jake Jabs (my boss 20 years ago– they worked together on libertarian and anti union causes) and he is no friend of the working man.
We wants people poor, his business model is built on working folks with non union wages buying his Chinese made crap by non union workers.
You are correct about the furniture though.
Based on your logic, the goal of any good businesses (Jabs has a good model, he is #1 in the market) is to target the poorest people. Further, if they are not poor enough you help them get more poor. This way they have less money to spend with you and others and your business valuations increases exponentially. I do have this concept you put forth correct, right?
Now I know this is the Barney Frank business model for American home ownership. Discount any rational judgement, lower credit barriers and juice up the market without any controls. Go look at Hudson City Bancorp (HCBK) and see how they avoided Barney’s business consulting services.
Your explainations of economics and business models make no sense. Different businesses have different target customers: AFW are people who can’t afford good furniture.
I don’t know anything about baseball, so I can’t comment on your metaphor. I try not to talk about things I don’t know anything about.
You should try it.
I thought you meant he wants to make people poorer, you know drive out economic growth.
would be a lot easier without those pesky unions running around trying to get higher wages for employees.
Our government workers have the Right-to-Work and Governor Ritter built on this foundation when he unionized 32,000 state workers.
Shouldn’t the rest of Colorado have these same rights to choose. Look at what ColoradoWINS has done under Right-to-Work.
It’s not risky at all. In fact, it will help make the labor unions stronger for all Coloradans.
The losers with Right-to-Work are labor union bosses and corporate bosses. Now they actually have to be competitive and deal straight. Same goes for Amendment 54. Too bad Amendment 53 was bought-off, that is another good one I’ll be voting for even though my vote doesn’t count.
Are you going to continue to post here after the election, whether 47 passes or not?
If you are, what are you going to write about? I’m just curious.
If you left, I think Bob would secretly miss you. 🙂
I’ll be here. Just think of all the pro Union bills that will be run when 47 and 54 pass.
Some union bills will be fair and good for Colorado, others may not be. I’ll be here to comment either way.
None of you seem to ever see my comments on other items, note I now understand 49 and am not promoting it.
Unlike Ewegen, who wants hurt labor unions by taking away a fair and efficient process for (not forced) union dues contributions, I don’t desire to put up additional barriers for union members.
Ewegen also opposes 54 because of his love affair with Xcel I guess. Come on Bob all they have to do is change the law. After 54 passes they’ll change the law because Xcel pumps a lot of $’s into politics and these political bosses won’t stand for the tap to be capped with some silly Amendment.
When are the Corporate-Political-Union Bosses payoff ads going up?
