Game 3 of the NBA Finals is tonight — if you haven’t been paying attention, you’re missing an historic Finals performance from LeBron James. It’s time to Get More Smarter with Colorado Pols. If you think we missed something important, please include the link in the comments below (here’s a good example).
TOP OF MIND TODAY…
► If you have a suggestion, please raise your hand. As Lynn Bartels reports for the Denver Post, Colorado Republicans have absolutely no idea who to put forth to challenge Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet in 2016. Could it be Attorney General Cynthia Coffman who makes the move? Probably not.
► Jefferson County Schools Superintendent Dan McMinimee is looking to replace departed Communications Director Lisa Pinto. In the meantime, he’s doing it again.

► How much Global Warming is too much? As Politico reports, G-7 leaders appear to have agreed on a definition:
The G7 agreed Monday afternoon to limit the increase in global temperatures to a maximum of 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, a victory for German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who wanted the group of wealthy countries to present a united front ahead of a climate summit in Paris this December.
“Urgent and concrete action is needed to address climate change,” said a statement issued by the group, ending a summit held in the Bavarian Alps. The plan calls for meeting a United Nations recommendation for reducing emissions in 2050 from 40 to 70 percent below 2010 levels. That may be enough to prevent global temperatures from rising to dangerous levels…
…Merkel, who has become so wedded to the global warming agenda that she has been dubbed the “climate chancellor,” had staked her prestige on getting her fellow G7 leaders to follow Germany’s lead. She backed her call by strengthening her country’s transition to renewable energy sources like solar and wind. The German government has to phase out nuclear power by 2022; as of last year almost a third of its power was generated by renewables, outpacing coal.
► Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback looks like he’s angling to become King (of Kansas).
► Julián Castro, secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, was in Denver on Monday touting a new energy-saving and solar initiative developed for low-income neighborhoods.
► Democrat Tony Exum will try to re-take his former House seat in 2016; Exum lost his HD-17 seat in 2014 to Republican Kit Roupe.
► The Colorado Springs City Council continues wrestling with the problem of Helen Collins, the ethically-challenged council member who has been doing the slum-lord thing with convicted felon Doug Bruce.

► Governor John Hickenlooper has selected Luis Guillermo Benitez as the first director of the newly-created Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office. The new ORI office will operate under the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT); Benitez may soon hold the record for the most words ever printed on a business card.
► Twin Peaks Charter Academy in Longmont made a strange decision in hiring a noted anti-gay rights attorney to represent them in a case that could ultimately shut down the school. From the Colorado Independent:
Embattled Twin Peaks Charter Academy will keep its lawyer, Barry Arrington, despite a request from Congressman Jared Polis that Arrington, who has an anti-gay track record, be fired.
“Mr. Arrington is a highly qualified attorney and is not being removed as counsel from Twin Peaks Charter Academy,” the school’s spokeswoman Tracy Weise told The Colorado Independent in an email. “Mr. Polis has no jurisdiction, and is completely overstepping his bounds to even suggest that he has the right, to make recommendations on how Twin Peaks Charter Academy is managed.”
Arrington raised eyebrows this week in a back-and-forth with Polis, who has been critical of the school’s decision not to let valedictorian Evan Young give a graduation speech in which he came out as gay. Polis has asked for a third-party investigation of the school’s decision and overall inclusiveness, ideally conducted by a LGBTQ-rights group.
Arrington used strong language in asserting that Polis, who does not directly represent the district in which Twin Peaks is located, was playing politics and suggesting that the school undergo “Maoist-style thought reform.”
At this point, Twin Peaks Charter Academy should be closed just because the people leading the school are complete imbeciles.

► Sometimes there is no way to improve a lede. This story from the Associated Press is one example:
An 84-year-old woman has been falsely accused of handing out cannabis-infused baked goods at a Memorial Day barbecue.
► Your eyes do not deceive you — that was indeed Bill Clinton having lunch with Bono in Denver on Monday.
