Taxes are good for the economy. Taxes distribute funds so that others may prosper and our government agencies can build and improve.
If we ask for a little bit of fairness from our rich friends in our communities, (taxes) asking them to share in the table of wealth (like the Last Supper in the times of Jesus) with them, you have more people who are involved in the social dynaminc of the American Dream.
An investment in poor people, who have so much promise, is much better than in the continued robbing of them of their dignity and future legacy.
VOTE YES ON C & D.
I just recieved a call on a very interesting and potentially earth shaking (polically) plan that is in the works. Stay tuned….
Put up or STFU IMO…
Beuaprez will have a stellar campaign finance report at the end of the quarter. No more debt and matching Holtzman. It’s about the money, honey, and Bob will prove it.
He’s ben dialing for dollars all week. Leaving the hospital with 100k from calls alone. Added to the traditional fundraising efforts, with the Birthday Bash coming up – he’ll clear 500k.
Quite the takedown of Holtzman in Sunday’s D Post:
http://www.denverpost.com/ci_3039248
Is the Denver Post for or against C & D?
Jeez….reading John Andrews today made painfully clear how terrible he is. Warmongering whore for the military industrial complex. Wants to draft our sons and daughters to fight for oil in the Middle East! The SOB should be hung out to dry, not given space in a newspaper to vent his ugly bile.
You’re absolutely right former President, William Jefferson Clinton:
(From ABCNEWS)
INTERVIEW WITH PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON, RIPPING THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION OVER TAXES.
http://abcnews.go.com/ThisWeek/HurricaneKatrina/story?id=1136801&page=1
“Now, what Americans need to understand is that that means every single day of the year, our government goes into the market and borrows money from other countries to finance Iraq, Afghanistan, Katrina, and our tax cuts,” Clinton added. “We depend on Japan, China, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, and Korea primarily to basically loan us money every day of the year to cover my tax cut and these conflicts and Katrina. I don’t think it makes any sense. I think it’s wrong.”
The Governor must be really getting riled; he’s throwing everything he has at Marc. I read it and thought shame on the Denver for being in bed with Owens.
Come On Strider…you really think Owens rang his buddies at the DP (isn’t that the left wing paper?) and said “write me a really mean article about MH…NOW!!!” What’s more likely, that or the fact that everything in that story is true?
Not able to stretch himself, he’s stretching the truth, a lot even by politician standards. of course, like MH says in the article, i’m sure this is just Owens making stuff up to take the focus off C&D.
The ego (unjustified at that) on MH is unreal. Can’t wait to see Napoleon meet his Waterloo.
Owens shot is wad too early. This kind of stuff should have come out later. Now – MH has time to fight against it, probably raise even more money, and look like a victim of the governor’s.
They thought they timed this well; BB just out of the hospital, end of the reporting period, ballots going out in less than a month.
But really – assuming the message is managed well – this will go away and be writtin off as Bill’s sour grapes.
Yes – I for one do believe that. I believe this is the work of Marci Benson and Bill Owens. And as an insider, you’d know it, too.
As someone who worked in Bill’s administration for over one year, I can absolutely assure you the governor was behind this most recent attack. It reeks of him.
All while the Democrats are laughing their asses off at republicans attacking their own.
Democrats ought to be learning not laughing. BB supporters have the opportunity to eliminated his competition a year in advance. The public won’t remember an internal fight now as opposed to the 2006 primary. Holtzman painted himself into a corner with his taking on C&D decision. He can’t go after BB but is a sitting target himself.
Brilliant.
Shotthewad,
Bill Owens has plenty more where that came from. To be honest, I think he is just getting started. Holtzman got smacked down like none other today. Unless he has some cards up his sleeve, he probably just got framed as an opportunist putz. Just goes to show that you shouldn’t bite the hand that feeds you. That’s just the humble opinion of a Dem sitting back watching it all. Personally, I am hoping that Marc has some fight left in him and will start hitting back. The dirtier this race gets the better, and the Dems might actually have a chance to take this one then.
Funny how the Colorado Pols haven’t posted about a front page Sunday Denver Post story on their favorite candidate for Gov… Sounds like that dude Holtzman has been stretching the truth for years and someone finally called him on it…
I think the Denver Post heard how ignorant Beth was about how our investment in public higher education helps make our economy stronger so they put this business article together especially for her.

Vote Yes on Invest in a strong Colorado economy, Vote Yes On Ref. C&D
Anyone know why Owens and Holtzman had a falling out?
Hotlzman’s “puffing” is bad, but is it really worse that the White House’s claim that Mike Brown had relevant experience in emergency response? In reality, while still in college in the 70s Brown served as an intern for a mayor of a 70,000 person town. But for Katrina, that experience would be what qualifed him to run FEMA today.
Don’t all politicians puff like this?
First: I’m not committed to anyone in the Republican Race. Second: I like both candidates. That said – it’s a smart move to force this kind of stuff early in the campaign. It gives MH plenty of time to respond and voters plenty of opportunity to get to the truth. When Schaffer “padded his resume”, he had absolutely no opportunity to respond because the attck came so late in the race. With something like this (and face it – this is trivial), voters will forget. If BB brings it up later in the race – he’ll look like he’s going negative. Something not necessarily appropriate in this environment. I almost think the campaign wanted this stuff to come out now, and I’m also sure they’ve got plenty to dish out over the next year – relating to Owens and Beauprez. The hint of things to come will be this: will MH respond or react? Attack or measure a response?
Am I the only one who sees this as Owens throwing bombs at a once friend? What is with that guy?!? He strayed by working for the Democrats, and now he’s doing their bidding by attacking fellow R’s. Sad, Gov. Go back to Ukraine and earn some more “speaking money”. We lose more and more faith in you every day.
Our Republican Governor just threw all the lessons of ?04 out the window.
Never mind the cantankerous CD-3 Primary (in which Republicans voted for and endorsed a Democrat after a nasty Primary) or the Statewide cabal of the Coors/Schaffer Primary (where personal and political attacks were thrown early and often)… forget about several other bitter primary battles (in Weld, Mesa, Douglas and La Plata) that County GOP Organizations are still reeling from… and look, instead, at the Party Division and infighting indicative of today?s Denver Post piece.
In his campaign brochure, Holtzman says he is “widely credited with having guided Colorado’s evolution into a fully diversified technology hub.” Under his leadership as the state’s secretary of technology, he claims, “tens of thousands of jobs” were created and Colorado was “ranked first for having the highest percentage technology workforce in the nation.”
Not true, says Gov. Bill Owens, who appointed Holtzman to the position in 1999. They have since had a much- publicized falling-out.
(Marc?s) former co-chairman on the Science and Technology Commission, Lew Wilks, backs (Marc) up.
“Marc put tremendous energy into raising awareness of the business community in both Colorado and nationally,” Wilks said. “Owens had the vision, and Marc executed the vision.”
With the Republican Primary almost a year away, it seems awfully early to be subjected to this sort of bickering and he-said, she-said. Add this to the silly Atkinson attack earlier in the week, and it is becoming very obvious what?s happening here:
Holtzman chalks up the latest attacks as a smear campaign by people who are on opposite sides of November’s budget measures.
Holtzman has emerged as a leading critic of Referendums C and D… Owens was a key architect of the ballot measures and is the proponent’s chief spokesman.
“The governor is using this occasion to raise false charges about my credibility and background to divert attention from the real issue,” Holtzman said.
What will the voters believe? It probably doesn?t matter, because they won?t remember, anyway. Instead, insiders will see a Governor throwing all Republican Commandments to the wind and attacking, albeit obliquely (with the help of the mainstream media), individuals who oppose him.
Will this attack stick? Well, that depends of the failure or success of Referendum C and D. Will the activists care about such trivialities? Again ? that?s dependant on the outcome this November. But will those same folks see through the criticisms leveled by our esteemed Governor as an attack on a fellow Republican? You bet.
And yes ? this is exactly the sort of attack that cost Republicans the majority in ?04.
Even I see this for what it really is. Trivial. Petty. Mudslinging. I hope this is in no way traced to the Beuaprez Campaign. Undoubtably, Bob has hired some opposition research on Marc. But if this is the result of the nearly 10k needed for quality work, we’ll all see it on his expenditures (unless they push the payment out to next quarter.)
Why, Bill? Are you really so bothered that people may actually disagree with you? You’ve become bitter, power hungry and money coveting. You are not the man I worked for nearly six years ago.
Did anyone watch Colorado Inside Out this weekend? Peter Boyles is the biggest @sshole, I’ve watched in awhile. Not to say that Dani Newsum is the best or smartest guest – her faulty logic always undermines any relevant point she might have -, but Boyles gunned for her on almost every question, especially about Andrew Jackson. Anyway, he started heading into O’Reilly territory, classless, abusive and disrespectful. What a dick.
Dani Newsome seems to be borderline retarded on Colorado Inside Out. She can’t make a coherent point to save her life. She wants to be the angry liberal, but just comes off looking dim. My advice to Dani…Let Dave Kopel talk more while you sit there and nod in agreement.
