Heath Exults In Hard-Won Victory

We’re going to stop holding that 2002 gubernatorial beatdown against him, as the Boulder Daily Camera reports:

Businessman Rollie Heath emerged Wednesday morning as the winning Democrat in a primary for a state Senate seat that blankets Boulder.

With all 13,521 ballots counted this morning, Heath had earned 56 percent of the vote in the contest pitting him against Democrat Cindy Carlisle for the state Senate District 18 seat, according to Boulder County’s election division.

“I’m feeling great,” Heath said of his lead Tuesday night.

Heath said Tuesday that if he were to emerge from the primary victorious, he would immediately get started on the job since he would not face a challenger in the general election. He said he would work for fiscal reforms and try to help his fellow Democrats carry out successful campaigns so that the party keeps control of both legislative chambers…

Heath was the Democratic gubernatorial candidate in 2002. He also was the founding chairman of Rocky Mountain Progressive Network, since renamed Progress Now, which he called the major “progressive force” that filled a Democratic void in the state.

  1. Um, isn’t Ron Tupa still technically occupying the seat?

On the other hand, I’d be perfectly fine if whoever wins between McCain and Obama “immediately gets started” after November 4.
