Greeley, CO – An informal group of Northern Coloradans called The Greeley Group have organized a forum on legal immigration to discuss its impact on Northern Colorado. The event, titled “Colorado Conversations: A discussion about the economic and broader impacts of legal immigration in Northern Colorado” will take place August 12th at the Hensel Phelps Theatre inside the Union Colony Civic Center beginning at 6 PM.

Colorado Conversations will feature several prominent Northern Colorado leaders including President of the University of Northern Colorado Kay Norton, Greeley Mayor Ed Clark, Greeley Police Chief Jerry Garner, Weld County Commissioner William Garcia among others. The featured speaker of the evening will be former Energy and Transportation Secretary Federico Peña.

Founding member of The Greeley Group and local businessman Rich Lopez is one of the principal organizers of the event.

“This type of event is long overdue here in Greeley”, Lopez said. “It is our hope that this diverse and representative group of leaders discussing this issue will help bring healing to our community.”

The mission of The Greeley Group is to initiate civic discussion without political motive or intent but to simply address critical issues in a pragmatic and reasoned manner.
