  1. I suppose someone has to break the ice, I want to talk about why C&D are good for Colorado.  My first reaction to D was, Jeez Louise, is that all we can do for higher ed and spend $1.2 billion on roads.  For cheap labor conservatives, $217 million more for K-12 and higher ed was way too much, but the dollar signs for highway work, music to those ears.  A true conservative would never subsidize transportation from the general fund, but what the heck, front side, back side, who cares, Davis/Bacon has been dismantled for the most part and highways are pure lard.  Michael Carrigan, CU Regent says that for every dollar Colorado spends on Higher Ed, they get back $20.  That is one heck of an investment, no?  Cheap labor conservatives on the other hand like the indentured servant route, import the best and brightest from Thailand, Japan, India, Sri Lanka, etc. it’s because it’s CHEAPER.  Problem is, as China emerges as a real economic super power with money to burn, well, it doesn’t take a Harvard MBA to figure it out.  Meanwhile Phillip Anshutz has built a remarkable facility at Fitzsimmons and Colorado is not ready.  Read the article from Thomas Friedman, “End of the Rainbow” -Ireland has zero percent unemployment and imports 200,000 people including 50,000 Chinese to do all the work in their highly educated culture.  Meanwhile, we are more concerned with developing anti-torpedo torpedos via Both Ways Bob. I have seen the future and we are backing up.

  2. While the “Ho’s” and the “Bo’s” are having a trilling discussion on the previous CoPo’s web listing, there’s an interesting article in today’s Grand Junction Sentinel.

…”McInnis said also he still was watching with interest as the gubernatorial contest plays out….McInnis said much still can change, noting that Beauprez had inquired about the “drop-dead date” that would prohibit him from seeking re-election to Congress in the 7th District. If Beauprez drops out, he said, “That changes the whole dynamic” and forces party officials to “look beyond Denver” for a new candidate, such as himself.”

  3. Draft Alva Adams for the race!  He was a great governor.  So what if he’s dead, nonviable Americans have rights too and, from what I hear, he’s been voting every year anyway from a certain Chicago precinct.  We want the Dead Guv!

  4. Sounds like Salazar is wanting the top job by playing mister nice-guy…

“Sen. Ken Salazar, D-Colo., one of Roberts’ supporters, urged the president not to “allow the clock of progress for our country, and in particular for women, to be turned back by diminishing the number of women on the court.”

Salazar, one of two Hispanic senators, also called for Bush to consider nominating the Supreme Court’s first Hispanic justice. It would be “a historical appointment,” he said in a letter to the White House.”
