On Keith Olbermann’s Countdown last night, Tinker received Oblermann’s “worst person” designation. Tinker and fellow democrat Steve Cohen are running in Tenn. 9th congressional district. Tinker has done everything in her power to portray Cohen as racist. This seems to be the semblance of logical thought going on behind the accusation: Cohen is white therefore he is racist therefore vote for Tinker because she is black hence not racist.
According to Talking Points Memo, “Cohen is the only white Congressman from a majority-minority district in the South, and was elected largely because of the divided field of black candidates in the 2006 primary, which included Tinker herself.”
The election is today and all signs point to Cohen easily beating Tinker.
Here’s the video for last night’s Countdown:
What Jewish liberal isn’t in the KKK?
Last, but not certainly not the least offensive… oh wait, the Nikki Tinker campaign pulled it off of its YouTube account. Talking Points Memo includes a direct quote from the commercial, “‘While he’s in our churches, clapping his hands and tapping his feet … he’s the only senator who thought our kids shouldn’t be allowed to pray in school,’ the announcer says, referring to an old vote against school prayer from when Cohen was a state senator.”
With all of the contentious primaries in Colorado, it’s nice to know that none of our candidates warranted such an ignoble designation or engaged in such spurious attacks.
