With the new season of Survivor: Ugamunga, or whatever its called, on the air this week, we thought we’d start a new Friday feature to let you vote off one Republican and one Democrat from the island that is Colorado. Our version of Survivor isn’t as well-produced as the real thing, but the good news is that you probably won’t have to see Tom Tancredo with his shirt off.
Click on the link below to see the polls….
You may vote for one person in each poll, but only the top vote getter overall for each respective party (one elephant and one donkey) will be voted off. Next Friday we’ll do it again, with two names removed. So, get to voting.
P.S. If we’ve left someone off the list, cast your write-in ballot in the comments section and we’ll look at adding more names next week.

What? No Honey Fitz? or Hero Holtzman? Can I cast a write-in ballot?
Huh? Both are on here – are you having a problem with your screen?
That’s a good idea, though. Cast your write-in ballots in the comments section and we’ll consider adding names next Friday.
Morgan Carroll has to go.
only half of each poll shows up on mozilla firefox
Just like when only half the story shows up in the Denver Post 😉
It’s Bob Schaffer, not Schafer.
You left off Herb Rubenstein, Peter and/or Sir Robin, but that would be too easy.
Actually, these polls have the potential to be much more mean-spirited than your old hair polls.
The rationale behind your selection and groupings isn’t immediately obvious to me. I assume the subgroups will be combined after further winnowing of the field.
Also, I’m unfamiliar with a few of the persons mentioned beyond simply recognizing their names. Fortunately you have added the search feature to this blog to assist me along with searching of the pink book.
The reasons for eliminating someone should be much more interesting than who gets voted off. Voters, for enlightenment and entertainment of readers, please give your reasons(s) in one or two sentences.
Yeah, what Mozilla said.
“The rationale behind your selection and groupings isn’t immediately obvious to me.”
There is no rationale. This is just for fun on a Friday. Just vote. Sorry, but there’s not a hidden meaning in every syllable we post on this site.
You guys need to relax.
Dont vote out Tancredo…he is the only legitimate voice for tghe conservative agenda these days!
Oh, ‘fess up, Alva. We know this is part of the Grand Conspiracy. Where the heck is the Anti-Masonic Party when you need it? Actually, along with the Know-nothings and Whigs, the Anti-Masons were subsumed into the Republican Party in 1856, but we’re still there in spirit, watching you!
Inexplicably, we did leave off Herb. Rest assured he will appear next week.
Oddly enough Herb’s director of (un)intelligence has been MIA since we found him out.
That was not a complaint, by the way, just an observation!
What the hell is a director of web intelligence? I’m new.
I am shocked that someone actually votes for Tom Tancredo saying, “he is the only legitimate voice for tghe conservative agenda these days!” I guess if conservatism stands for bombing Islamic holy sites if there is any terrorist attack against the U.S. and voting against hurricane relief for those who are dying and desperate.
On to my votes. On the Republican side I voted for Marilyn Musgrave because she, in my opinion, is an extremist who doesn’t represent the values of her district and Colorado. Her district includes Fort Collins and Colorado State University which I attended for 3 years. She introducted the Federal Marriage Amendment which is a hateful and hurtful amendment to add discrimination into our constitution.
On the Democratic side I voted for Rutt Bridges. I think he was a strong candidate for governor on the democratic side and didn’t give enough explanation for his surprise withdrawl from the race. I’m unsure why he entered in the first place but I think he left the democrats scrambling and no matter which side you are on you shouldn’t throw your hat in the ring unless you are serious about your candidacy.
So, by adding Herb next week, is he kind of the like the surprise twist that reality shows like to toss in about halfway through a season?
The votes are in. Before any candidates’ backers begin stuffing the ballots, let’s look at the early returns — as they say a lot. Just look at the negatives on Paschall (15.9%) and Holtzman (20.6%), compared to their possible primary opponents (that is if Holtzman and Paschall even make it to the primary). The negative (voted off the island) on O’Donnell is just 2.3% (seven times less than Paschall) and the negative on Beauprez is just 5.3% (about four times less than Holtzman). You got to admit it — Paschall and Holtzman would make ugly candidates for the GOP. But — attention ColoPols — do not adjust your odds to reflect reality — keep your DEM hopes alive (I should say your dim hopes alive) that the GOP will field the weaker of its candidates. Not!
I think it actually shows that BB’s camp is worried about MH, why else would they want to vote him off the island if they’re not running scared….
I wouldn’t vote BB off the island, I like the guy, but I’m definately not voting for him come August.
More interesting – the true conservatives would be voted off first. That’s telling. Tancredo, Holtzman and Musgrave. That’s not a bad position, after all.
*POST REMOVED
Colorado Pols does not permit comments that attempt to float unfounded negative rumors about candidates or campaigns.
Huh? Holtzman is a true conservative? Funny, I haven’t heard his positions on abortion, same sex marraige, killing embryos for research. Where does he stand on these issues…I really don’t know. But until those are known it may be quite a bit premature to call him a true conservative along the lines of Beauprez, Allard, Musgrave and others.
Insider – what are you talking about?
Morgan Carroll? Where does she fit in your thinking?

I am surprised that Cheri Jahn made the list, and that she has gotten 12 votes so far. What is up with that?
Come on, Morgan Carroll has got to be on this list!
Hey JS,
Be careful. You might get voted off for knowing a little too much about reality shows.
Morgan Carroll rocks.
Jahn is Speaker Pro-Tem – that’s the only reason she’s on the list.
And here I swore off of reality TV for political blogs…
Morgan Carroll is the ONLYONE whu gets to stay. Huh, A deserrt Island and only one woman to talk to.
Hey if you guys di\un’t want her I’m Going to be on Mount Deserrt Island Maine in two weeks. Camping, kyacking, Mountian clibming and hopefully advising a distant relative,
Withthe Celtic goddess looks she has and the Keltic goddes intelegence abd charm Morgan wil go far.
If you’re including Jahn for her leadership role, McElhany ought to be added next week.
Mario is funny. Not funny HAHA, but in a weird sort of way.
Shawn Mitchell should have been on the Republican list. Maybe he’s already off the island????
joe,
Got Google?
http://www.coloradosenate.com/
We republicans need to vote off Bill Owens for sooo many reasons.
thinking,
Don’t we want the opposition to believe that he still has the power to split the party 😉 or carry our message?
true conservatives?, that’s funny. I’ve heard Marc’s positions on all those issues.
I realize it’s hard to go to Marc’s website and click the “Issues” link right at the top to see for yourself, but they’re there.
“Surviror”???
If we are deciding to add members to this list, instead of eliminating them, why isnt Penn Pfiffner on the there?
When a third party member–like Penn, who scapegoated party labels only after being elected under the guise of another–shifts to the view of the far right…where can any trust or legitimacy be gained from his actions in the past which are consistent today?
We hear the cries from the far right echo with dispair towards their own elected officials and party backers with the distinct distaste of “RINO’s!” But, could it be, that maybe it is their own mistake of identity? I cannot see a true Libertarian in cohorts with the reactionist or revisionist or whatever you would you like to label those at the Independence Institute along with Doug Bruce. For that frat is broken in and spanked by ideologues who carry the banner– “I’ve got mine, now screw everyone else.” If anything we can learn from those who are for and against C&D by their past and present posture in politics.
Just a thought from the middle of the road, looking for a better path.
People with lots of money, ie. Jared Polis should be on the list. Lots of power, big “feel good” agendas, no accountability..
Looking at the comments and lists above makes me want to start an initiative to add “none of the above” to the Colorado ballot. In that way, if a candidate failed to win by a majority (51%), either the seat would go unfilled until the next election or a new election would be held without any of the prior candidates.
Morgan Carroll is the only one with the courage and integrity to stand-up to the lobbyists and big business. Better keep her, unless you like paying unfair insurance premiums.
Mad Dog,
The question is; is she willing to stand up to the trial attorney lobby?
