        1. When people’s hateful statements reach comical levels, I prefer to treat them as such.  Having to take every hateful statement seriously gives purveyors of hate too much power.

          1. Hate speech, or just tellin the truth.  Ann reports, you decide.

Democrats always assure us that deterrence will work, but when the time comes to deter, they’re against it.

            Ann Coulter

Democrats couldn’t care less if people in Indiana hate them. But if Europeans curl their lips, liberals can’t look at themselves in the mirror.

            Ann Coulter

If John Kerry had a dollar for every time he bragged about serving in Vietnam – oh wait, he does.

            Ann Coulter

If we’re so cruel to minorities, why do they keep coming here? Why aren’t they sneaking across the Mexican border to make their way to the Taliban?

            Ann Coulter

Liberals are stalwart defenders of civil liberties – provided we’re only talking about criminals.

            Ann Coulter

The Democrats have no actual policy proposals of their own unless constant carping counts as a policy.

            Ann Coulter

The New York Times editorial page is like a Ouija board that has only three answers, no matter what the question. The answers are: higher taxes, more restrictions on political speech and stricter gun control.

            Ann Coulter

The really amazing part, to me, was when Florida made it into the Final Four, the Democrats didn’t demand a recount.

            Ann Coulter

They’ve hit us and we’ve got to hit back hard, and I’m not just talking about the terrorists.

            Ann Coulter

Usually the nonsense liberals spout is kind of cute, but in wartime their instinctive idiocy is life-threatening.

            Ann Coulter

“We need somebody to put rat poisoning in Justice Stevens’ creme brulee. That’s just a joke, for you in the media.”

            Ann Coulter

“Liberals love America like O.J. loved Nicole.”

            Ann Coulter

“There are a lot of bad republicans; there are no good democrats.”

            Ann Coulter

We’ve finally given liberals a war against fundamentalism, and they don’t want to fight it. They would, except it would put them on the same side as the United States.

            Ann Coulter

Whether they are defending the Soviet Union or bleating for Saddam Hussein, liberals are always against America. They are either traitors or idiots, and on the matter of America’s self-preservation, the difference is irrelevant.

            Ann Coulter

While the form of treachery varies slightly from case to case, liberals always manage to take the position that most undermines American security.

            Ann Coulter

And my favorite Ann Coulter Quote

When we were at peace, Democrats wanted to raise taxes. Now there’s a war, so Democrats want to raise taxes. When there was a surplus, Democrats wanted to raise taxes. Now that there is a mild recession, Democrats want to raise taxes.

            Ann Coulter

    1. Didn’t she keynote the Leadership Program of the Rockies retreat with Bob Schaffer a couple of years ago? Our recollection is fuzzy.

            1. That every time a Republican says something you disagree with you label it in that bs term du jour as “Hate Speech”?

I think a lot of things that democrats say are mildly to severely stupid, but I don’t go looking to label it as something for political correctness impact.  I just dismiss it as retarded….

              1. It’s not a matter of disagreement when she says stuff like the quote above, which is very mild compared to things like calling liberals terrorists. That ain’t a difference of opinion; that’s hate, and you won’t find a single liberal commentator who does the same thing. (That’s a challenge, by the way, to you or anyone who disagrees with what I just wrote to find some liberal commentator – some prominent one, that is, not some basement blogger somewhere – who does the same thing.)

It’s one thing to hold strong opinions, to be caustic, or be deliberately provocative. It’s another to do what Coulter does.

                1. She makes a stupid comment like calling liberals terrorists and you want to interpret that as “hate”.

It’s not hate, it is just a stupid analogy that demonstrates why those of us with an R after our names ignore her and prefer she would just go away.

Quit searching to label things with PC correct terms like this speech or that speech and just accept it for what it is, stupidity.

The minute you start throwing around that every statement you disagree with is a “Hate Speech” the less likely a lot of us are to listen to your point of view, even when it is very valid.

                  1. Ann Coulter is renowned for her intelligence. We can not simply dismiss these statements as “stupid” because she is not.

I agree that labels like “hate” and “racist” are used way too often. If it’s being misused here then we have to suss out what’s driving Coulter to make these statements. Again, it’s not that she’s stupid, so what is it?

I’ve given this some thought… and the only other plausible explanation I can come up with is just as bad: Coulter is a cynical sell-out who peddles these insults, to the detriment of discourse in America, for money. She realized she could make herself wealthy and famous by crossing lines even Limbaugh and Hannity shy away from, and that was more important to her than applying her intelligence in a constructive manner. In some ways this is even worse than being driven by hate because the lack of empathy required for such a cynical course is frightening to contemplate.

I hope the rest of your lecture wasn’t addressed to me in particular; if you pay attention to my posts you’ll see that I don’t use those terms lightly or frequently.

            2. We’re in big trouble.  I’m far from Coulter, and you are so reactionary and venomous sometimes I swear you’re a Republican plant.

I’d pay $1000 to find out who you are.  Not for any nefarious reasons [totally serious there – I want to be very clear that’s not a threat in any way], I just have a hard time believing that such a bitter little silly person actually exists.

What do you do for work?  How do you get along with anyone well enough to make it to lunch every day?  Who can you talk to that you don’t hate their guts so much that you’re driven to spit on them because they don’t exist in your tiny lunatic fringe view of the world?

These are the things that don’t keep me awake at night. 🙂

          1. I don’t know why Caldara has her on, but I wish he wouldn’t.

I’m just glad you all let me post on such a left-leaning blog.  It’s good to have healthy debate.

            1. They were asking about Coulter’s appearance as keynote speaker at the Leadership Program of the Rockies (formerly Republican Leadership Program) retreat. LPR was (still is? not sure) chaired at the time by Bob Schaffer.

Which means that Schaffer picked, or at least approved of, Coulter as the keynote speaker.

              You know, your “fringe harpy.”

              Comments?

              1. But I know that redstate.com was full of comments disowning Coulter as a representative of the mainstream conservative viewpoint. Now, I don’t know how much redstate.com represents mainstream conservatives, but it was an indication that things like what you’re talking about have come to an end. But we’ll see…

  1. Coulter was on virtually every media outlet, with columns, books, and tv appearances. If she’s so “fringe” why did she get so much press in the “liberal” media?

      1. Given many of her statements, she’s so far off from mainstream Conservatives that she seems beyond the ability for rational thought.

And in response to your bit about healthy debate, this may be a liberal-leaning blog but I appreciate getting other viewpoints. Thanks for hanging around.

        1. and check out that psychotic stare in her eyes in many of publicity photos….where’s Bobby Jindal when we really need an exorcism performed?

  2. 16. Colorado’s 4th district (R): By far the biggest oversight on our most recent Line was the exclusion of this Colorado seat held by Rep. Marilyn Musgrave (R) since 2002. Despite its strong Republican leanings — President Bush won it with 58 percent in 2004 — Musgrave is a consistent underperformer, and faces a well-funded opponent in Democrat Betsy Markey. This is a major weak spot for Republicans. (Previous ranking: N/A)

  3. Hi all;

I think I’ve gotten too wrapped up in blogging recently so I’m going offline for a week. I think I have a family around here somewhere and so I’m going to try and find them 🙂

    thanks – dave

ps – Someone needs to post a Russian Music video in tomorrow’s open thread.

    1. And you’re an idiot

The Pentagon confirms to TPM Election Central that military officials told the Obama campaign he could not visit Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany yesterday with campaign aides in tow because that would violate DOD regs.

“We informed the Obama staff that he was more than welcome to visit as Senator Obama, with Senate staff. However, he could not conduct the visit with campaign staff,” a Pentagon spokesperson tells EC.

      1. If you read the letter I am talking about it is from a soldier in Afghanistan who was there when Obama visted the other day. It has nothing to do with visiting a hospital in Germany.

        1. You took down the diary from your blog, but don’t you think you should also say something about that here? It’s kinda weaselly if you don’t, Ham.

          1. because the letter isn’t proved or diproved and therefore does not meet my standards. I was to quick to post it when I saw it on a blog I collaborate with.

    2. .

If Captain Porter’s Commander doesn’t discipline him for that,

then that Commander needs to go.

      And, what a crybaby.

“I was at the rope line, and Obama walked right by without shaking my hand.”

      Final point:

US soldiers do not provide my freedom.

If he’s really a commissioned officer, then he swore (or affirmed) to uphold the Constitution.

Maybe he ought to take the time just once to read the founding documents and learn what this country is about.

      .

      1. Once again.  The whole thing sounds like BS.  Plenty of reasons for a military person to disagree with Obama, but not getting your ass buttered isn’t one of them.

        1. It’s complete BS.

Here’s a tip for Ham – if you hear about something via email or some smalltime blog like yours, but not anywhere in either the MSM or more reputable blogs, check it out on Snopes first before allowing yourself to be made a fool. Something this juicy would not have been passed up by Fox, Drudge, or redstate.com if it were legit.

      2. He posted his name, rank, and unit in what could easily be considered a political statement.

I asked my brother, who’s also an Army officer, his opinion on something political a couple years ago. Even with me in a casual conversation, his answer was measured and only as much as he felt was prudent.

This was a stupid thing that, even if not punished, will hurt his chances at promotion or reassignment.

  4.

“In light of the findings of the El Paso County Republican Party that Doug Lamborn’s radio ads contain unsubstantiated false statements about Jeff Crank we ask Doug Lamborn’s campaign to immediately stop running the ads and to apologize to Jeff Crank and his campaign.”

Nasty, that is, for Girl Scouts, which is who I think is running for office.

Crank, if you can’t at least force the good Congressman to yell at you to shut up,

as a poster here has done,

then you are worse than a loser.

    You are irrelevant.

Think about taking those white silk gloves off.  Think about doing it before August 12.

    .

    1. You have all seen it, but here it is one more time! For all that don’t like it, well, “You Shut UP!!!”

It’s Friday, I needed to smile!

      1. You’ve got people like SJintheknow making clearly racist attacks which muddies the water for guys like you who disagree with Obama for legitimate policy reasons.

Based on your writing I would never imply you are a racist, but there are many people opposed to Obama based on racism or prejudice against his name.

        1. When you take out the Hillary supporters and Jesse Jackson, all that’s left are 3 rednecks in Alabama that oppose Obama on racial issues.

For everyone else, its the content of his character, or “issues” with his issues.

          1. The stuff I gave you before shows it’s a lot more significant than this.

I’m sorry if it’s troubling to be on the same side as those chumps, but that’s no excuse for you to close your eyes to it.
