Betsy Markey added to DCCC's Red to Blue Program

(This is an incredibly strong sign for Betsy – promoted by DavidThi808)

Betsy Markey has been added to the DCCC’s red to blue program indicating that the national Democratic party is sensing a major takeover opportunity in the 4th CD.

The DCCC cited Markey’s surpassing fundraising gols in including her on the list of 14 candidates who are challenging incumbent Republicans.

Here is a link to the story on CQ Politics

And the DCCC press release:

This is not good for Mad-Cow as it will only increase the flow of cash to Markey.

  1. Larimer, Boulder and Weld counties, the three largest in the district, comprise at least 85% of the votes in the 4th CD. Musgrave has already lost two of those (Larimer and Boulder) to Markey.  Last election, only her margin in Weld County reelected her.  If Musgrave only breaks even in Weld in November, she will be defeated and the trends in Weld coming out of the last election weren’t promising for her.  Governor Ritter carried Weld by a plurality and the Democrats elected members to the state house from that county.

If Musgrave breaks even or loses Weld by a slim margin, there aren’t enough votes on the Plains to save her, even if she wins with 70% margins in those counties.

Besides all of that, she voted for the war.

      1. One of my favorite politicos of all time is Edwin Edwards, the 4 (nonconsecutive) term former Governor of Louisiana.

In his final re-election big, after charges of corruption, Edwards was facing David Duke. Allegedly, the Edward campaign released “better a lizard than a wizard” bumper stickers.

Wish I had thought of that.
