Heads Up: James O'Keefe Skulking Around In Colorado

MONDAY UPDATE: Mother Jones reports this afternoon on what James O'Keefe is apparently up to in Colorado–not surprisingly, trying to bait progressive GOTV groups into either committing or condoning voter fraud. Also not surprising, he hasn't found any takers:

James O'Keefe, the conservative provocateur, has been on the prowl in Colorado, the setting of a close Senate race between Democratic incumbent Mark Udall and GOP Rep. Cory Gardner, as well as a nip-and-tuck governor's contest. Last week, O'Keefe and two of his collaborators tried to bait Democratic field staffers into approving voter fraud involving Colorado's universal vote-by-mail program, according to three Democratic staffers who interacted with O'Keefe or his colleagues.

Democratic staffers in Colorado recently came to believe they were the subject of an O'Keefe operation after campaign workers became suspicious about would-be volunteers who had asked about filling out and submitting mail-in ballots for others…

Last Tuesday, a man who appeared to be in his twenties showed up at a Democratic field office in Boulder wanting to volunteer to help elect Udall and Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colo.), according to a Democratic staffer who met with him and asked not to be identified. The man introduced himself as "Nick Davis," and he said he was a University of Colorado–Boulder student and LGBT activist involved with a student group called Rocky Mountain Vote Pride. Davis mentioned polls showing the race between Udall and Gardner was tight, and he asked the staffer if he should fill out and mail in ballots for other college students who had moved away but still received mail on campus. The Democratic staffer says he told Davis that doing this would be voter fraud and that he should not do it. [Pols emphasis]

On Friday, Udall campaigned with Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) on the University of Colorado–Boulder campus. After the event, a woman calling herself "Bonnie" approached a different staffer and, according to this staffer's boss, asked whether she could fill out and submit blank ballots found in a garbage can. The staffer, according to her boss, said that she told her no…

The repeated questions about submitting other people's ballots led Democratic staffers to suspect they were being targeted. Later, the staffers viewed photos of O'Keefe—including one taken in Colorado showing O'Keefe sans mustache and sporting a Udall campaign sticker and a Women for Udall button—and they concluded that O'Keefe and the college professor were the same person.

The story goes on to confirm Saturday's incident at the New Era Colorado as we reported yesterday. If you know anyone working on Democratic or progressive campaigns who hasn't yet gotten the word that O'Keefe is in Colorado looking to entrap them…now would be a good time to let them know. Sunday's post follows.

James O'Keefe
GOP provacateur James O'Keefe.

We just got a tip that infamous conservative "gotcha game" artist James O'Keefe is on the ground in Colorado, prowling around left-aligned campaign organizations. O'Keefe reportedly showed up at the Fort Collins office of GOTV group New Era Colorado yesterday, and according to the report we got, "tried to force his way in," necessitating a police call. We can't confirm any of those details, but O'Keefe himself was positively ID'ed. We'll update with any additional information we get about that incident.

For those who haven't had the pleasure, James O'Keefe is one of the right wing's most prolific and controversial provacateurs, but he also played a major role in the partisan destruction of the community group ACORN after posing as a pimp and seeking assistance with a hidden camera. Less known is the fact that he was later forced to pay over $100,000 to one of the ACORN workers he selectively edited. O'Keefe later faced charges for attempting to tamper with the phone lines of a U.S. Senator. Most recently, O'Keefe filmed himself crossing the Mexican border wearing an Osama bin Laden Halloween costume, a stunt that resulted in considerably more ridicule than the intended instilling of xenophobic fear.

Anyway, Democratic and otherwise lefty campaign hands across the state, if you see this guy at your office, be advised that he is not there to make you look good.

  1. O'Keefe's laughable latest stunt was to cross back and forth across the Rio Grande, wearing an "Osama" mask. I shit you not.

Right wing "Constitutional" Sheriff Arvin Jones was happy to cooperate in the filming to make it look as though there were no border guards nor security to stop O'Keefe.  Jones appears unfazed by his recent conviction for violating the constitutional rights of an El Paso police officer.

Sounds like the right kind of guy for O'Keefe's BFF. The only thing missing was O'Keefe's faking Ebola symptoms, but I'm sure that will be next.

  2. And violating his probation.

I'm calling his probation officer to ask if he's supposed to be here in Colorado.

He's not supposed to leave New Jersey.

    1. Actually, I think that like a lot of repressed GOP types, he'd take to it a lot better than you'd expect, since, you know… he didn't have a choice.…….   🙂

      1. Somebody reach out to Turd Blossom, (or Todd Akin), and ask him what the Republican Fantasy Fairy has in his box of magic tricks for male forms of legitimate rape.  Does the sphincter muscle turn in to Fort Knox? Grow teeth? Turn in to a bear trap?

Don't worry, O'Keefe, if you're a card-carrying right-wing nut job you'll be able to shut that whole thing down.

        1. O'Keefe's been off probation for more than a year. He must have violated some laws crossing the Rio Grande both ways without a passport – even though Sheriff Jones was watching the entire time.

I would like Keefe to be publicly humiliated, shown up as the lying sack o'shit that he is, but I can't cheer on a hypothetical prison rape, even for him.

But yeah, it would be interesting to see Todd Akin's take on "legitimate" male on male rape. I think that their basic claim is that it never happens to "real men".

          1. He should be thrown into prison for pulling off stupid stunts like that.

Arrest O'Keefe for instigation and voter fraud. We have mountains of evidence to put O'Keefe away in prison for the rest of his life.

    2. FU, That must be the real reason the Udalls use their get out of jail free card.  Father and Son would not survive long in the joint as someone's bitch.  The cost of the get out of jail free card is Mark being someone's bitch 99% of the time on the outside.

        1. achole has his head so far up his rear end his brain ( what little there is ) lacks oxygen. He knows con man cory will lose and he is starting to throw a tantrum – poor baby. As for bush the failure – an attack on American soil on his watch – mission accomplished – way to go ac.

          1. I'm guessing he has a really, really kewl pic (Borg approved) that he wants at the top of today's thread, so he got up extra early so he could make 'em proud.  It will no doubt change the hearts and minds of those who witness it's resounding message… 15 more days to victory.

        1. AC has to stay anonymous; otherwise, his Probation Officer might find out he's back on the internet again, trying to meet teenage girls. You know, just to counsel them on the dangers of the internet. He wasn't going to do anything…honest.

  3. Don't you picture achole looking just like him, very smarmy and all greasy looking. Very pale because like all cockroaches he has to stay away from the light. And then there is that increasingly spreading rash.

    1. O'Keefe is a d-bag, to be sure. But he's young and apparently able to move around without a mobility scooter.  AC's issues point towards a lack of sunlight, movement, and cordial interactions with other human beings (thanks to Restraining Orders and School Buffer Zones, I expect).

      1. I've always seen him at a  desk in a cluttered campaign office.  I see Immoderatus in an old, dark, pine paneled "rec" room in his basement listening to rushbo and beck and waiting for his wife to make grilled cheese and tomato soup, not that there is anything wrong with those time honored American classics.

Do they post much on the weekends?

        1. Yup, that's the same picture I have of the two of them.

ACHole got authorization for weekend overtime obviously as the campaigns heat up in the last couple of weeks.

      2. Not true! Ever since Mommy had her "accident",AC's moved up to the main floor like a Big Boy. She's still getting her SS checks, of course, but strangely, no one's seen her in a while.

        Just don't check the freezer.

  4. O'Keefe is just another RWNJ who has managed to milk the Wingnut Welfare machine…I am embarrassed to say he is a Rutgers alum….sheesh, they will let anyone in these days.

    1. $25 and a prepaid card containing $1.31 left.

And no tickets back to whatever hole he came from. It's past time to arrest O'Keefe. You know any stunts he performs is illegal in the State of Colorado, especially when attempting voter fraud.

And one of the Dems needs to rip that mustache off, and slap it on his forehead.

    1. Yep, if you want to find voter fraud, just ask a Republican, they have a lot of practice doing it.

This election could be their last hurrah.  Enjoy it while you can ACHole, this is as good as it gets for you for, well, ever 🙂

      1. These stunts and Caldara's just prove they know perfectly well that death by lightning strike is several times ore common than voter fraud. That's why they go to such lengths to try to manufacture some by committing it on their own and claiming to be exposing dangerous flaws in the system or by  pretending to be valiant  undercover protectors of the sanctity of the vote.  Every time they give it another try they just make themselves look lamer. And yes, the last time I checked private citizens aren't allowed to break laws and claim it was part of a sting operation. These jokers should be arrested, convicted and sent to jail.

        1. And the Texas GOP should be declared a criminal organization under the RICO act for fraudulently denying 600,000 registered voters the right to vote this year.

  5. Heyy…. I know!  He should see if he can find someone dumb enough to "move" int a district, and register claiming his friend's couch as residence and than cast a fake ballot.

If he's afraid of the voter fraud consequence – all he has to do is tell his knucklhead dupe to leave the ballot blank.

    1. Oh for christsakes MADCO . . .

. . . just where [at 727 E. 16th Avenue, Denver, CO  80203] do you think you could find someone that incredibly stupid???

  6. Heads up, everyone.  O'Keefe has now produced an attack video claiming that the Democrats are carrying out voter fraud throughout Colorado.
