On the eve of “The Salute to Armed Forces Day” the campaign of fifth congressional candidate Bentley Rayburn released an endorsement video from retired U.S. Army Lieutenant General Billy Thomas.
General Thomas is a thirty-one year veteran of the United States Army.
He served in Vietnam, Europe and in various postings around the United States and overseas. Upon retiring and returning to Colorado, General Thomas served as the Executive Director of the Military Communities Youth Ministries. MCYM is dedicated to bringing ministry to military teens and families worldwide.
General Thomas said, “As America prepares to salute its men and women in the Armed Services, I believe it is critical we send Bentley Rayburn to Congress.” Thomas continued, “Bentley is the only candidate in this race with any military experience, while others can talk about supporting our soldiers only Bentley knows what it is like to be a soldier. I encourage all voters in the 5th to support this outstanding leader for Congress.”

Are we supposed to spot a shot of Mt. McKinley in the background?
A general knows what it’s like to be an enlisted man? Don’t make me laugh…
a total lack of empathy and situational awareness. Everyone’s got to start somewhere, and even if you’re an officer from the beginning, you’re going to see how the common soldiers live in the service.
Plus, that statement also says something about Rayburn’s opponents and the CD5 race; of course a general is going to know more about military service and those in it than politicians.
And I would have to say that by that logic -Lamborn knows what it’s like to be an elected official. Something his two opponents cannot say.
If we were sending someone to front lines of Iraq, I would support Rayburn, since the question is “who will we send to the front lines of DC?” I say Lamborn.
but we don’t always want an ‘experienced elected official’ in: that often translates to ‘politician’. Right now, we want something fresh in Congress, as well as good leadership (which I can see in a general).
.
until 2 years ago, Airmen didn’t even have to pull guard duty in Iraq.
and the Bentster got out more than two years ago.
……..
Fighter pilots are very important.
But they do not go through what soldiers go through.
.
MSGT just retired last year. 16 years USAF 8 years guard
He did 2 tours in the gulf and flew daily missions into both Iraq and afghanistan. real duty.
But as he would say “Flight crews are just drivers. we go home (qatar) at night and don’t worry about getting hit with mortars.”
his final grade was SMSgt, but his view still holds that the AF’s got it easy.
Tougher for the guard who are losing their shirts from not being in their lucrative civilian jobs.
of the military industrial mindset? Vote Rayburn.
discontent is the perfect indication that Rayburn is doing something right. Thank you for the unkind propoganda Sir Robin, it pads Rayburn’s conservative credentials.
