Mesa County sherriff race… here's another of the candidates, one who thinks children at he border are 'cock roaches.'
http://annelandmanblog.com/2014/07/13/sheriff-candidate-mike-harlow-the-ugliest-face-of-mesa-county/
This is a primary reason I am supporting Benita Phillips for sheriff.
It is time for us to re-evaluate this elected position and consider a different paradigm. I am tired of hateful, xenophobic, self-serving gun nuts being in positions of power in this community. Grifters, gunnies, O&G lackeys…yeah, we have plenty of them.
How about we don't elect any more of them?
Don't forget narcissistic, semi-exhibitists (well, from the waist up) who like to take selfies in the bathroom.
I believe Harlow is the candidate being supported by the GJResult Tea Party, the same people who supported Pennington.
Benita is a wasted vote.
Who do you support, Ralphie?
I'm not going to support anyone until everyone who is trying to make the ballot makes the ballot and I know who the choices are. My two criteria will be 1) someone I can live with, and 2) someone who has at least a puncher's chance of winning.
I'll bet he was in the front row at church yesterday morning?
Harlow's facebook page is interesting.
More Harlow. This guy's a real piece of work.
And this is who the Tea Party endorsed. I hope your getting screencaps, 'cause the cowardly SOB will be scrubbing his page, soon enough.
(You know this, Curmudgeon, but this is for the benefit of others)
There are two tea parties here. The AFP astroturf tea party and the GJResult "real" tea party. The loonies belong to the latter. They are a small minority, but very well organized. They managed to pack the caucuses this year and that enabled them to take over the County Assembly.
I don't think he'll be scrubbing his page at all. He seems to be loving the handful of fellow bigots who make up his little echo chamber.
Here's the story on the tea party endorsement. In typical GJ electronic media fashion, they got it wrong. Harlow is running as a write-in and Arotin has been certified to be on the ballot as an unaffiliated.

Arotin actually seems a pretty reasonable alternative. At least he's got the law enforcement experience, and he's not a "Constitutional" deputy sheriff.
I liked his answers to the Sentinel questionnaire, but we need to see who else is going to be on the ballot.
Anybody who votes for this despicable excuse for a human being is likewise a despicable human being. Period. I don't care about any other issues. They are no different than those who voted for Hitler because some of his policies appealed to them in spite of the fact that he spoke of Jews as subhuman and encouraged Germans to treat them as vermin. That kind of dehumanization that justifies thinking of and treating children as "cockroaches" is exactly the same so the don't compare anyone to Hitler rule does not apply.
My guess is that anyone that vile constantly sees cockroaches everywhere . . .
. . . beginning each morning in the mirror.
Vile is the word. Mesa County should be deeply ashamed.
Seems like only a day or two ago when someone (me) was wondering when the nextest latest Mesa County moron would make his public appearanace . . . ???
(And, what sucks even more is I gotta' be out there next week . . . I think I'm probably gonna' take my own bottled water.)
Nothing from AC or modster yet on why there's nothing wrong with anything this guy said. Guess they haven't found a bad enough contemporary Dem example to plug into the Johnny does it too formula and it's pretty hard to defend the dehumanizing of children on its own merits. At least on this site. It would be easy as pie on any rightie site.
Mesa County doesn't shame easily, BC.
So true.
Apparently Mike and his minions weren't too keen on being outed by Landman. Fortunately, she has a pretty thick skin.
These gunzo guys sure like to talk tough to women! Frickin wusses.
The other thing about Harlow is that he was "let go" (one layoff, one firing) from his last two Sheriffing positions. Hardly a recommendation.
Anne Landman is a lot tougher than Harlow and his "badass" cronies.
Like I said. Mesa County should be deeply ashamed.
This one makes Tancredo look like a multicultural-loving humanitarian.
Not an easy feat.
Another day, another hearing in another courtroom for John Suthers in his never ending crusade against marriage equality. This time, it's in federal court, where the plaintiffs in Burns v. Hickenlooper have filed a motion to lift the stay on marriages issued by Judge Crabtree in Adams County Court.
Poor Suthers. He's been told "No" again. Stubborn kida fella', ain't he? http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_26145701/judge-allows-denver-keep-issuing-marriage-licenses-gay?source=rss
OOs! "kinda' ".
Persistent……
Politicians make me sick. Literally.
Hey, David. Good to hear from you.
My wife and I are finding it necessary to intentionally limit our news consumption…for this very reason.
You have to click through to the summary of the report, and then click again to read the actual report, to see that the author took literally one sentence and one chart out of the original to write this "article."
When a minority of the public knows the three branches of the federal government but a majority is familiar with "Honey Boo Boo," I'm very skeptical that this is a significant contributor to the average American's stress levels.
Agree completely. It's hard to be stressed by something you pay no attention to.
Wasn't Honey Boo Boo also on BWB's short list for Lt. Guv?
Bush Supreme Court nominee….
I think she'd be a good choice on the Colorado District court about now:
She's more mature and sophisticated than Mike Harlow, anyway….
At least she's not griftng off Colorado taxpayers and/or a state-funded university. Oh Mesa–will it be the grifter of public funds or the 19th-century caracticture of the ugliest bigot on earth?
I'm going to go way out on a limb here ane predict "neither."
American Exceptionalism dead and buried?
Quite possibly:
Have a nice day.
Remember to send a thank you card to the Chicago School of Economics and their many graduates who are participating in the Free Market Experiment…..
boy, once you give money to a D, the funding requests come in 24x7xInfinity. Here's who I've given to in the last year:
Romanoff, A
Udall, T (Not M)
Warren, E
Dear D's: I am not a Koch Brother, C or B or D.
Udall, T doesn't really need a lot of help. He's a shoe in.
Our nation's Rural Electric Association leaders, whose infrastructure was built by subsidized loans compliments of the American taxpayer – and whose fuel of choice, coal, has enjoyed rampant subsidization for years – is launcing yet another fake war. (sigh).
There doesn't seem to be any sympathy here for the solar contractors or commercial solar customers who are getting driven out of the market or royally screwed on electric bills. But for that to happen, they'd have to use real numbers.
