  1. Mesa County sherriff race… here's another of the candidates, one who thinks children at he border are 'cock roaches.'

    In a July 5 post on his Facebook page that he titled “Attention Useless Eaters,” Harlow likens the central American child refugees amassing at the southern U.S. border to cockroaches. He writes,

    “The overweight kids from the banana belt are your enemies. Not only should you quit tasking your brains trying to help them but you need to disallow them safe haven in your towns or cities. They are in a few cases, babies but they are baby cock roaches.”

    Then on July 13, 2014, Harlow posted another xenophobic rant on his Facebook page titled “Operation Wetback,” in which he defends use the term “wetback.”

    “The term wetback can not be racist, as it’s not race-specific,” Harlow says. “Since we are apprehending invaders from Yemen, Iraq, China, Iran Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, etc., it’s impossible that the term could be racist,” he explains.

    “Dope and prostitution are why Mexican border towns exist,” Harlow further writes, forgetting — or maybe never knowing — that California, New Mexico and most of Texas once belonged to Mexico, before the U.S. ever existed.

     

     

    1. This is a primary reason I am supporting Benita Phillips for sheriff.

      It is time for us to re-evaluate this elected position and consider a different paradigm. I am tired of hateful, xenophobic, self-serving gun nuts being in positions of power in this community. Grifters, gunnies, O&G lackeys…yeah, we have plenty of them.

      How about we don't elect any more of them?

       

        1. I'm not going to support anyone until everyone who is trying to make the ballot makes the ballot and I know who the choices are.  My two criteria will be 1) someone I can live with, and 2) someone who has at least a puncher's chance of winning.

      GET PICTURES OF ANYTHING UNUSUAL, TANKS, OBAMA GOONS,ETC

      Put out to all your contacts; please report sightings of any homeland security buses (white, boxy looking, may have windows obscured) that they see on the highway. Assume that they're transporting illegals and ask the observers to get the place of the sighting (mile marker) direction of travel, number of buses and any escorts. Bus license numbers would also be helpful.

      Ask them to email this info as far and wide as they can.

      1. Mike Harlow Look for citizens to get rough. They don't want invaders in their towns. I don't want them here, do you? It might end in shots fired and that would be the beginning. Here's the facts, We have criminal filth running our government. This must change. They are communists. Will the corrupt government arrest itself and throw itself into jail? I'm thinking probably not. Thomas Jefferson found himself and friends in similar straits in 1776. He was tasked to write the following: But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their Right, it is their Duty, to throw off such government and to provide new guards for their future security. That sentence is from the Declaration Of Independence. I think a tough decision is coming our way………soon.

          Some have V.D. because they were raped by smugglers. Is this terrible? Yes it is, but they'll be sitting next to YOUR kids. These kids are not seeing doctors before getting into the schools. Oh no, that's all being waved because it's a humanitarian crisis. Some day maybe this will be straightened out but until then, little Johnie gets to sit next to Juanita who is hacking and coughing while scratching her crotch. The hacking cough is probably just a cold………………right? Yeah, you hang on to that. It's probably just a cold…………and not tuberculosis……..yeah, there you go.

              There are two tea parties here.  The AFP astroturf tea party and the GJResult "real" tea party.  The loonies belong to the latter.  They are a small minority, but very well organized.  They managed to pack the caucuses this year and that enabled them to take over the County Assembly.

              I don't think he'll be scrubbing his page at all.  He seems to be loving the handful of fellow bigots who make up his little echo chamber.

              Here's the story on the tea party endorsement.  In typical GJ electronic media fashion, they got it wrong.  Harlow is running as a write-in and Arotin has been certified to be on the ballot as an unaffiliated.

              1. Arotin actually seems a pretty reasonable alternative. At least he's got the law enforcement experience, and he's not a "Constitutional" deputy sheriff.

    5. Anybody who votes for this despicable excuse for a human being is likewise a despicable human being. Period. I don't care about any other issues. They are no different than those who voted for Hitler because some of his policies appealed to them in spite of the fact that he spoke of Jews as subhuman and encouraged Germans to treat them as vermin. That kind of dehumanization that justifies thinking of and treating children as "cockroaches" is exactly the same so the don't compare anyone to Hitler rule does not apply.

Guess they haven't found a bad enough contemporary Dem example to plug into the Johnny does it too formula and it's pretty hard to defend the dehumanizing of children on its own merits. At least on this site. It would be easy as pie on any rightie site.

        Anne Landman isn't in my fan club. She posted an attack which I haven't seen so I can't respond line for line but she is a co founder of Western Co. Atheist & Free Thinkers. Atheism goes hand in hand with communism so Anne has done two good things here. She has validated my conservatism and her cloaked communism. Communists hate religion because it refutes the slavery and lies of communism. If a lather mouth Atheist is attacking me from someone else's page, i must be doing something right.   2. Another day, another hearing in another courtroom for John Suthers in his never ending crusade against marriage equality.  This time, it's in federal court, where the plaintiffs in Burns v. Hickenlooper have filed a motion to lift the stay on marriages issued by Judge Crabtree in Adams County Court.

    As if it weren't enough that our politicians are actively working to harm the global economy and otherwise failing to do their jobs or even show up for work in general, they're also stressing everyone out with the astonishing breadth and depth of their incompetence. And since high stress is linked to shorter life expectancy, they are also literally killing us with their incompetence.

    2. You have to click through to the summary of the report, and then click again to read the actual report, to see that the author took literally one sentence and one chart out of the original to write this "article."

      When a minority of the public knows the three branches of the federal government but a majority is familiar with "Honey Boo Boo," I'm very skeptical that this is a significant contributor to the average American's stress levels.

              1. At least she's not griftng off Colorado taxpayers and/or a state-funded university.  Oh Mesa–will it be the grifter of public funds or the 19th-century caracticture of the ugliest bigot on earth?

    Quite possibly:

    The president acts in relatively minimalist ways by executive order, Congressthreatens to sue over his use of those orders, and (as novelist Kurt Vonnegut would once have said) so it goes.  In the meantime, Congress has proven itself unable to act even when it comes to what once would have been the no-brainers of American life.  It has, for instance, been struggling simply to fund a highway bill that would allow for ordinary repair work on the nation's system of roads, even though the fund for such work is running dry and jobs will be lost.

    This sort of thing is but a symptom in a country of immense wealth whose infrastructure is crumbling and which lacks a single mile of high-speed rail.  In all of this, in the rise of poverty and a minimum-wage economy, in a loss — particularly forminorities — of the wealth that went with home ownership, what can be seen is the untracked rise of a Third World country inside a First World one, a powerless America inside the putative global superpower.

  6. Our nation's Rural Electric Association leaders, whose infrastructure was built by subsidized loans compliments of the American taxpayer – and whose fuel of choice, coal, has enjoyed rampant subsidization for years – is launcing yet another fake war.  (sigh).

    1. There doesn't seem to be any sympathy here for the solar contractors or commercial solar customers who are getting driven out of the market or royally screwed on electric bills. But for that to happen, they'd have to use real numbers.
