1. The Alternate States of America, where Republicans always win their elections, where majorities of voters who didn't choose them don't count, where any Dem that was elected is illegitimate and should be hanged, and where and the resulting policies are always wrong, even if they supported it 5 minutes ago:

   “Weeks after Vice President Biden came to Colorado to reward Sen. Udall, President Obama is coming to raise money for him and say ‘thank you’ himself,” campaign spokesman Alex Siciliano said. “Sen. Udall votes with President Obama 99 percent of the time; Cory has yet to meet one person in Colorado who agrees with the president that often.

   “Perhaps while fundraising in Colorado next month, President Obama and Sen. Udall can find time to explain to the more than 335,000 Coloradans who had their health insurance plans cancelled why they were lied to.”

   Hey, Cory. If that number is true, then those policies were most likely deficient and if and when they were needed probably wouldn't cover a damned thing.

   Republicans have their Luntz Approved ™ talking points. They will be repeated until the end of time, Truth be Damned!

2. Received a Gardener push poll last night – a decidedly poor one at that.  The auto, punch 1-2-3-4 poll twisted itself in knots trying to get me to say there was a chance I'd vote for Cory.  It didn't happen but they tried, boy did they try. 

   Anyone else suffer through this lame attempt to influence my vote?  The only good thing about it – Gardener campaign had to spend some bucks to write and execute.

   3. It was probably not a push poll, and your answers helped Gardner. Here's why…

      A push poll usually happens just before the election, goes out to a wide number of people, and usually makes an anonymous vivid inflammatory false claim framed as a question "Would you vote for Mr Goodguy if you knew he beat his puppy?" It's a hit and run when there is no time to set the record straight.

      But this far out, I bet what you experienced was a voter ID screen and message testing.

      1st they want to figure out who is 100% for them, who is 100% against them, and who is on the fence. Knowing which you are is all that counts at this point, they really have no preference at all how you feel. If you are undecided, they hit you with mail. If you are for them, they hit you early with fundraising and late with get out the vote pieces. You let them know you weren't going to be convinced, and I promise you that the field director couldn't be happier to know that. You have saved the campaign a ton of time and resources that they will use to mobilize the people they can move to the polls.

      All those other questions? Those were to test different messages to see what works and what doesn't before they lay out the big bucks for TV ads. They weren't trying to convince you, they are looking for aggregate numbers so they can better convince other people. Believe it or not, the call could even have been from Democrats looking to see what messages they need to defend against.

      You gave them good data they can use. They understand a little better now who to target and how, and to a campaign that is worth a lot more than trying to change the mind of a Democrat at the start of July.

      or maybe it was a push poll. Weirder things have happened in Colorado politics.

      2. Both of these posters are pretty sophisticated with regard to politics and messaging.  You're *assuming* they gave the pollster good data.

         I can smell a messaging poll too.  I rarely give them good data.

4. In Mississippi, Chris McDaniel is filing a lawsuit related to Thad Cochran's primary win, never mind the fact that it will go nowhere.

   McDaniel should stop being a sore loser and accept that he lost; the longer this temper tantrum goes on, the worse McDaniel (and his supporters) end up looking.
