  1. Beauprez and Tancredo can't win, and that's why Democrats spend all of their time talking about them. Scott Gessler is a proven statewide winner, and Democrat attempts to smear him have failed. Fellow Republicans, if you're tired of Chickenlooper, there is only one candidate on your ballot who has a chance of beating him.

    Vote Gessler! I just did.

    1. Beauprez and Tancredo can't win the general election against Hickenlooper, sure.

But one of the two of them will be winning the GOP primary. Gessler sure won't; with those other two gasbags in the race, there's no air for Gessler.

      1. Politico story today fails to even mention the Honey Badger, all about Both Ways and the Xenophobic Nutjob.  Sorry Moddy, but bff Gessler will have to go back to being a non-publicly-funded schyster.

    2. Well, that brings his total up to 1.

It's not just Dems who have forgotten about him, Moddy.  He's an also-ran.  Beauprez and the Tanc are getting all the Pubby press to.  Again, I point you to the Fox News story about meddling libs trying to pump up Tancredo over Beauprez: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/06/10/colorado-liberal-group-runs-ads-to-defeat-most-feared-gop-candidate-in-governor/

"The group apparently considers Tancredo more beat-able in November than his main primary rival, former Rep. Bob Beauprez."  Where's Scotty?  Oh, there he is mentioned along with Mike Kopp as the two other losers in the race.

      1.    It's not just a tactical move for this November. With Tanc as the leader of the GOP in CO (even after he loses), he will remain the face — including the mouth —of the GOP. Which is good for us Dems and our long-term strategy of locking up the Latino vote.

After all, that's what happened in California after Pete Wilson and his xenophobic ballot initiative in '94.

        1. Bet Tanc is thanking his lucky stars that he'll never actually have to be Governor. That's hard work. But a run will sure give his D list wacko rightie celebrity a much needed shot in the arm. So it's all good for everybody. Except anyone who wants to see a Republican Governor elected.

    3. Gessler didn't even take 50% in a Republican wave year.

And if he's the only one who can win, why did three other candidates jump in the race? When even the past two losers think they have a better shot than your guy, you know you have issues.

    4. …and I, sir, just cancelled you out. Now, you've dodged my energy question for much too long.  Do you remember what the question was, or do I need to remind you?

  2. The voters decided it was more of a 'Ruby Tuesday', all-you-can-eat kind of primary day …. Why Eric Cantor Chose Bobby Van's

Cantor’s campaign and leadership PAC spent about $170,000 at classic D.C. powerhouse restaurants including Bobby Van’s Steakhouse and BLT Steak, according to FEC records. By comparison, his primary opponent Dave Brat spent about $122,000 in his entire campaign.

Beyond his steakhouse habit, Cantor’s campaign finance reports show a hodgepodge of catering expenses at other D.C. haunts including Rosa Mexicano, Johnny’s Half Shell and Capitol Hill Club. Outisde the Beltway, reports include payments toSine Irish Pub in Richmond, Va., barbecue from Shawn’s Smokehouse and Smokin’ Eddies BBQ in Virginia, and catering and lodging at the Beverly Hills Hotel & Bungalows in California.

Cantor's apple crop doesn't fall from the tree…

    1. That's a nice write-up, except for 'what she describes as "an ordained interfaith minister"' which reads to me as "Some kind of not fundamentalist Christian, "can't we all get along" airy-fairy title she made up for herself, when it's not.

      1. DP, I am no Nancy Cronk fan, but don't you think it is possible that a person can have religious beliefs and have it not be a detriment.  She was raised a Christian and converted to Judiasm when she married a Jew.  That raises issues to me about a lot of things, but it may have caused her to try to help other people that go through a similar experience.  Is that a bad thing?  Not in my book.

        1. You completely misunderstand.

She is an ordained interfaith minister.  That's a real thing.

The article prefices it with "what she describes as" like she made it up.

      2. So, which one are you, Punk?  Shia, Sunni, or just generic American Taliban.

I find your post offensive, kind of like a political religious test.

        1. People, DP's wording was inartful. I also thought she was criticizing Nancy for "claiming to be an interfaith ordained minister".

DP was, instead, criticizing the wording of the Villager piece by Peter Jones, who wrote:

A convert to Judaism by marriage, Cronk is also what she describes as an “ordained interfaith chaplain,” who has married about 75 couples of varying religions

I guess that could be construed as skepticism about the validity of being an ordained interfaith chaplain. DP has already explained herself once. I don't think it's worth more bytes, myself. As I said, Nancy herself can correct the wording of the piece if she chooses to do that.

In the words of the immortal song, Let it go.

DaftPunk, I don't remember if you identified your gender – if you aren't female, let me know.

          1. Wow. I had no idea my interspiritual sensibilities would create so much controversy. I was raised Christian. I decided I really loved Judaism as early as age 12, started attending temple with friends, and finally had an official conversion at the prompting of my in-laws to be who were conservative, when I was married. I am a practicing Jew, but I have studied world religions, take what motivates me from each, and respect each person's own, very personal spiritual journey. When the reporter asked me about how my parent's felt about my conversion, I told him, "I was raised to not focus on what I believe so much as how I act. I prefer to focus on being a good person — helping the poor, caring for widows and orphans, speaking my truth, etc." (something to that effect). When a reporter talks to you for 45 minutes and has to condense it to a handful of paragraphs, that is basically what you get.

I thought he did a good job, too. The only thing I would correct is that my tiny working-class suburb growing up (one mile squared) was not diverse, but the area surrounding it was very diverse. Also, I don't know if we were poor or not — we had food, clothing, a roof over our heads, and union-fought for health care. Not much else, but we had those things. My dad always said a person's wealth is determined by the number of people they love, and who love them; it has nothing to do with money or possessions. I felt blessed then, and I do now, as well.

            1. Oh, and the interfaith chaplain part — I studied through an Interfaith seminary on-line and started performing outdoor ceremonies in 2003 for friends whom, for a number of reasons, did not want traditional clergy to marry them (interfaith couples, lgbtq couples, etc.). I have married approximately 75 couples over the years — friends and friends of friends. The night of the Civil Unions passage in CO last year, I stood with Mayor Hancock, Congresswoman DeGette and many others who "married" (unionized) dozens of eager couples. It was wonderful! I also had a tiny spot in a documentary called "Saving Marriage: The Movie" where I married one of the main couples when lgbt marriages were first legal in CO. Win, lose or draw, I proudly stand as a straight ally for marriage equality, and am proud of my past. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0825331/

Last thing — I'm sorry you're not a fan, Andrew Carnegie, but I don't care much for fans, only friends. Feel free to call me if you are in the neighborhood and maybe we can have coffee.

  3. Today on one screen: Republicans tell me exactly why I have no respect for them…

Texas wingnut Rep. Louie Gohmert asks a pastor: why aren't you spreading the Good News that non-Christians are going to Hell?

Indiana State Rep. candidate John Johnson, on the poor: no one has the guts to just let them wither and die

Oklahoma US Senate Candidate Dr. David Crow, on foreign policy: "All men are created equal" doctrine led to the Rwandan genocide.

Texas Governor Rick Perry, on homosexuality: "I may have the genetic coding that I’m inclined to be an alcoholic, but I have the desire not to do that, and I look at the homosexual issue the same way."

Libertarian talk show host and activist Adam Kokesh on the Las Vegas shooting: killing those policemen wasn't murder because police are likely to kill people.

And of course, televangelist and former GOP Presidential contender Pat Robertson, on domestic violence: don't call the cops on your dad if he's waving a gun at mom, but ask mom to get him some help.

  4. Steven Chu, unchained.  It's refreshing to hear 'truth' from an ex-Cabinet Secretary once no longer muzzled by the fossil fuel interests that own Washington, DC…

“That’s another bullshit argument,” Chu, a Nobel Prize-winning physicist, told Forbes, adding that solar installations "don’t threaten grid stability until they approach 20 percent of the customer base.”

      1. It makes more sense than countries stiched together arbitrarily in British drawing rooms by aristocrats who saw no point in considering the "natives".

    1. Mosul was apparently held by 30,000 Iraqi troops. They fled in the face of a fierce 800 ISIS fighters, who now reportedly have control of about $400m in Iraqi bank notes and pretty much an entire military base worth of equipment – which they are now firing at Baghdad International Airport.

    1. Of course it is.  Every whackadoo outburst that appears in the reality based community to be the inevitable conclusion of a hate based ideology is a false flag.

  5.
