As Colorado Pols first reported more than a month ago, Vice President Dick Cheney will be in Colorado on Monday stumping for Rick O’Donnell in his campaign for CD-7.

The fundraising event will be held Monday evening somewhere at Invesco Field.

  1. You have to admit that the Democrats are a bunch of saps.
Webb promotes a new Broncos Stadium at Denver for the most part Democratic taxpayer expense to bail out Pat Bowlen. Now Pat Bowlen can host huge fundraisers for his Republican pals. And, the Democrats wonder why they lose elections.

  2. It is too far from the election for it hurt.  What it does show is the commitment that the White House and the party have to ROD’s campaign.  ROD is as outstanding of a candidate that they have this cycle in the country and they will pull out all stops to help him win.  No matter how you look it, ROD is shaping up to be an outstanding candidate and fundraiser.

  3. The Democrats were so hoping that Paschall would run. Most likely he will be an honored guest, that means he won’t have to pay and get his photo taken with the VP. Bloody Dem primary, uncontested Rep primary. See you in Congress Rick, you surely deserve it.

  4. Don’t pack your bags for the Beltway just yet, Rick.  Beauprez won a fairly wild GOP primary and still edged, albeit narrowly, Mike Feeley, who had no primary opposition.  Since then, the D’s have gained about a 5,000 registration edge.  The seat is winnable for ROD, but hardly a shoo-in.

  5. Cheney is poisonous to everyone and everything around him.  I look forward to the campaign media from the Dem candidate; pictures of Rick O’Donnell with the most disasterous American leader since Bendict Arnold.  Bush/Cheney voters and apologists should be ashamed of themselves.

  6. Judging by the way you lefties undercut the Americans risking their lives in Iraq at every opportunity, rickjames, I would have expected you to LIKE Benedict Arnold.  What’s the matter, did he come out against socialized medicine?

  7. Your comments are puzzling, Mary.  The stadium district is underwritten by a 0.1 percent sales tax in a 7 county metropolitan district.  Denver is definitely Democratic and Boulder leans that way but Adams is split, Jeffco, Arapahoe and Douglas are overwhemingly Republican, as is Broomfield.  How does that work out to mostly Democrats paying the tax?
As a Republican, however, I’ll remain neutral on your claim that the Democrats are saps 😉
But as to losing elections, apparently Ken and John Salazar and the Democratic majorities in both houses of the legislature didn’t get your memo, sigh.  Would you mind sending it out again?

  8. SpeakingOfBennie – just who is it who’s calling for the body armor, veterans benefits, and better support for National Guard who are on active duty in Iraq?  It certainly hasn’t been the Republicans…

I want a Very Big Poster of ROD and Cheney for the next election; with any competence, by then prosecutor Fitzgerald, prosecutor McNulty, or one of the Abramoff prosecutors will have Cheney wrapped up in either indictments or solid evidence as an unindicted co-conspirator.

  9. Unless John McClain switched parties while I was watching the Broncos, it has indeed been Republicans, backed by few honorable Democrats like John Kerry, and, bless her heart, Hillary Clinton, supporting our troops.  And it’s been the Cindy Sheehans, Michael Moores and other America haters demanding that we cut and run.  Look up the derivation of the word “copperhead.”  There were Democrats like that back in the Civil War too.

  10. Yes stumping by Cheney in the last days really hurt Allard. Bottom line is that O’Donnell will be sitting on $750,000 cash by year’s end. No primary opponent. Come Primary Day Rick will be sitting on $2 million plus for the general. The Democratic nominee will be broke. O’Donnell is in

  11. The Democrat will be anything but broke.  This is one of less than 20 swing seats in the nation and both parties will pour in cash to their nominees.  The Democratic winner will have name recognition, because the media will ignore ROD (what’s the story when you’re just twiddling your thumbs?)  The Ds will match the Rs dollar for dollar in hard cash and in case you haven’t noticed, there’s a lady in Fort Collins who can put millions into a 527 and take it out of petty cash.  We’re in a whole new world, GoRick, and ROD is going to have to win this election, not buy it.  Given the current registration and the Republican meltdown, ROD would be a slight underdog against Perlmutter and a serious underdog against Peggy Lamm.  I do agree it helps to have no R primary because if Holtzman-Beauprez is any example, these out-of-state gungslingers are only interested in their paychecks and smash the other side so brutally they forfeit hope of victory in November.  But Lamm and Perlmutter will probably keep it fairly clean because dumping crap on a woman candidate offends voters.

  12. Typical and pedestrian response.  The Republican TPMs re: Iraq, Michael Moore, Hillary Clinton et. al. have surpassed being cliche to now just being boring and simpleminded.  Go regurgitate somewhere else.

  13. Lamm or Perlmutter keeping it clean.
Not a chance. In 2002 both Democrratic and Republican primaries were fairly tame. Can anyone imagine those two staying clean. Sure the Democrats will raise money but they will start after the primary in a $2 million hole forcing all their time and resources to go to raising money. In the meantime Rick will have had months and months to work the unafilliated voters who are the real key to this District. Heck, if Peggy loses she may repeat her past history and support a good Republican, after all they have worked closely together.

  14. Rick is still the underdog, especially against Lamm.  But I agree he is taking the right steps, notably by supporting C and D.  Okay, he did that ineptly but it’s on the record that he did.  The far-right Paschall types will back him anyway against Perlmutter or Lamm.  Now he can compete for the swing voters.  He has a shot to win, but not if he shares the foolish overconfidence you display.

  15. Cheney to Visit Colorado Monday

It doesn’t sound like Vice President Dick Cheney is very concerned about being indicted. He’ll be fundraising in Denver Monday evening for a Republican candidate. Vice President Dick Cheney will be in Denver Monday to attend a reception for congression…

  16. Wow…look at rickjames use big words: pedestrian, regurgitate.  Big words, shallow thoughts.  Comparing President Bush to Benedict Arnold.  Get a life.
