Bob Beauprez: Still a Nut

Check out former Colorado gubernatorial candidate Bob Beauprez, proving once again the eminent wisdom of Colorado voters. As Colorado Media Matters reports:

From the April 4 broadcast of 630 KHOW-AM’s The Caplis & Silverman Show, with guest co-host Bob Beauprez:

SILVERMAN: Not just smart enough, extremely smart. I heard John McCain say that to Greta Van Susteren on the “Straight Talk Express.” He was telling Barack Obama to stop saying that he wants to fight a hundred-year war. He said Barack Obama is very smart. He knows what he’s saying is wrong. His colleagues in the legislature, a lot of those senators are backing him. People you wouldn’t necessarily expect — [Sen.] Bob Casey, prominent Catholic politician from Pennsylvania, backing him. The senator from Minnesota [Sen. Amy Klobuchar] threw down, [Sen.] Claire McCaskill [D-MO]. Smart people backing Barack Obama. I see kind of party people backing Hillary Clinton. Doesn’t that say something to you about Barack Obama? And you hear Republicans say good things about him. So, doesn’t he have a capacity to work with people? He’s smart and a leader. Aren’t those three attributes right there?

BEAUPREZ: I think he’s got a good, gifted intelligence, maybe. I would put him more in the clever category than smart. I don’t know if his instincts yet, his judgment, falls in the category of really smart. And a president of the United States ought to be that. They ought to have great judgment, great instincts. That I — you know, let’s be fair; I think it’s still an unknown. You know, and — please don’t take offense at this characterization. But if you study history, the people that have created great excitement with the masses, whether that’s Mussolini or Hitler — they come along and create this fervor for change. I mean, we had enough of that goin’ on in the ’60s around here. You know, “We’re gonna change the world.” But what direction do we want to change to? [Pols emphasis]

Which was apparently a little much, even for the likes of Craig Silverman:

SILVERMAN: First of all, I do object to a comparison of Barack Obama to Mussolini or Hitler, and if you read —

BEAUPREZ: Thought you might.

SILVERMAN: Yeah, well, I think that’s terrible, and I think that Republicans go way too far in demonizing Barack Obama, and I think it’s wrong and counterproductive.

We certainly agree, though as with all the cheap and offensive shots on your AM dial, once it’s out there, the horse’s ass has left the barn.

  1. This guy is an idiot.  Thank God the voters of Colorado were smart enough to put him to rest in a landslide.

Reagan created a “fervor for change” and “excitement with the masses”.  Kennedy created a “fervor for change” and “excitement with the masses”.  Hell, Pope John Paul II created a “fervor for change” and “excitement with the masses”.

Yet the only people Both Ways can think of that did the same were Hitler and Mussolini?

This tells us much more about him than it does Obama.

  2. to denounce his supporter’s spurious comparison of Barack Obama with Hitler and Mussolini.

That’s not what this campaign is all about, is it, John?

I demand you personally renounce Bob Beauprez, remove him from any committees, give back any money he’s raised for your campaign and make a clear statement that comparisons with dead dictators will not be allowed by your supporters.

  3. When he told Strum Thurmond that if he had won the presidency in 1948, running on a segregation now, segregation forever platform, that things would have been better….

What exactly in the 60s, did Beauprez not like?  When the Negroes marched for civil rights? Or, when they got them?

The new talk on rant radio is that “obama” is a little too full of himself….acts like he thinks he is already president….

    how do you spell “uppity?”

These republican clowns will stop at nothing…and they don’t have to worry if old Silverman is the toughest opposition they will face….

  4. Apparently that’s not enough for Beauprez. Now it’s “Barack HITLER Obama.”

What a total asswipe. I wish that horse would give him a quick kick in the nads.

  5. “I don’t know if his instincts yet, his judgment, falls in the category of really smart. And a president of the United States ought to be that.”

Need we ask who Beauprez voted for in the last presidential election?
