Maybe you saw yesterday’s “spend” diary by GOPPundit complaining – get this – about a $5m increase to a $17.6B budget. Using that famous fuzzy math, he figures that equals $4,000 per
Colorado citizen. (I think with a population of over 3 million, that’s more like $1.50 per person. Think you can give up one Big Gulp next year?)
GOPPundit copped to his error and corrected the diary. Good on ya, pundit!
Phoenix Rising succinctly put this “increase” in perspective:
Sorry, all you “conservative” types posting ridiculous hyperbole here, but you’ve gone ’round the bend on this one…
$5m of $17.6b is miniscule. To correct the Dead Guvs, that’s .028% – not 1/4 of a percent, 1/35th of a percent. It is dwarfed by inflation; heck, it’s probably dwarfed by last year’s population growth.
In real terms, it is a shrinkage of government services. You should be happy, but because you’re not in control, you’re trying to make a mountain out of a hole in the ground.
I figured this deserved its own diary because it will be more visible than a new comment there.
