Today House Districts, 1, 3, 6, and 9 and Senate Distict 35 had their assemblies.
HD1 and 3 are uncontested.
In HD6:
Liz Adams 54%
Lois Court 46%
So both will be in the primary. Josh Hanfling announced some time a go he is petitioning. Tom Russell is believed to be petitioning. Audrey Newman was weighing her options last I heard.
HD9:
Joe Miklosi 55%
Paul Rosenthal 45%
So both will be in the primary. A third candidate, Scott Bates, did not get delegates out of the Denver County Assembly last week so he may petition if he wants
SD35:
Joyce Foster 69%
Alice Borodkin 31%
So both will be in the primary.

Isn’t her current House district about 40% of S.D. 35? And yet she still managed to get only 31% of the delegates?
appealing from a personal standpoint. Both can be arrogant and abrasive. Both have an attitude of entitlement.
Difference, I see at this point (I am not in this district and don’t have a dog in the hunt), is that Joyce has a ton of money, most of which is coming from developers ( her son is one), and Borodkin supported a bill that developers hated because it would put them on the hook for failures to build responsibly.
Joyce of course has the Rabbi, which may count for a lot in this district, she also has the support of Ken Gordon. That can cut both ways as Ken can dumber than dirt.
I actually wish one of the candidates from HD6 was actually running for this Senate seat.
Even Josh Hanfling (I am not a fan) would be better than either of these twol
Never discount the ability of Ken Smith to blow a campaign he should win. Joyce has all the dough, a well-known husband, and a history as city council candidate. However, I am convinced that Ken Smith is the Dick Wadhams of the Democratic party (is he really a democrat?), where he has the overwhelming advantage, he can win, otherwise……..
I’ve never met Joyce Foster, but her husband was one of the co-chairs of EPOC, the organization which successfully opposed the effort to repeal Denver’s anti-discrimination ordinance back in May ’91.
Is Alice Borodkin’s husband running for RTD Board?
I am amazed that Alice got as many votes as she did.
Two very weak candidates.
Any way you cut it the Arapahoe county Dems really messed things up for both candidates in this race by not allowing Arapahoe delegates to vote on the race at the county assembly on March 8th. As a result, SD35 had to take a vote on whether or not to seat the 7 delegates from Arapahoe County that did show up. What a mess considering the fact that Arapahoe was suppose to have 8 delegate spots. I am sure more would have showed up if they had been given the proper instructions at County Assembly the weekend before.
When I thought things couldn’t get any worse, they actually did at Multi-County Assembly on March 15th when during the vote to seat Arapahoes Dems Alice and her husband were two of the four people that actually voted against allowing the Arapahoe Dems to vote. Who in their right mind wouldn’t let willing participants vote? It is so hard to get people to care about politics in the first place, but then to turn away those who can legally and are willing to vote? That just doesn’t make sense. Its just very concerning to me that an elected official actively tried to disenfranchise willing voters. Whether you are republican or democrat, I believe we all need to be encouraging people to vote. This is supposedly the shining example of democracy (really a republic) in the world and we get a whopping 30% or so to vote in our most publicized election(presidential)! That is just pathetic. GO VOTE!
as she was right on the cusp of not getting on the ballot after Denver County Assembly…she was probably unsure of how they would vote and it worried her. She got the 31% anyway, so it worked out to her advantage. Good for her.
