    1. One is a failure at the DA’s office.  I don’t like favors like this, but not part of Hick’s responsibilities.

The sick/vacation pay issue.  This is common in government jobs.  Even in private jobs it is not uncommon to have vacation payouts for unused vacation.

Often because of work flow you don’t get to take your vacation.  Vacation is part of your compensation and if you don’t use it you should be compensated for it.  If your employer failed to pay you your salary for two weeks no one would cry foul if they paid you double at the end of the month to make up your compensation.

The sick day issue is a little dicey in my opinion, but I think you need to take the vacation issue off the table.

      1. the first one is about the Denver City Attorney, not the Denver District Attorney.

City Attorneys do work for Hick, not Mitch Morrissey. Am I overlooking something?

      2. is the dollar amounts.  I’m not taking a position one way or the other, I just think that citizens looking at this will start grumbling, and I imagine that there will be letters, phone calls and emails to the Mayor’s office about this.  My point was Hick reads this and knows what is coming his way.

As to the plea bargains, it was not the DA, it was the prosecution unit of the City Attorney’s office.

        1. Ritter instructed employees that the old policy of “use it or lose it” was back in effect when this Owens nonsense bubbled up. Is there a movement to axe more than that?

          1. I am told that Rich Gonzales is charged with reducing the amount that can be accumulated.

I don’t know what is an appropriate amount that can be accumlated, so don’t have an opinion about this move, one way or the other.  I just hear a lot of grumbling from state employees.

  1. The Rocky Reported today…

    Holes in Armstrong reports

    By Lynn Bartels

Congressional candidate Wil Armstrong of Greenwood Village ranks No. 1 among House hopefuls in failing to report donors’ occupations and employers, according to an influential blog about money in elections.

Armstrong’s campaign provided the data for only 55.8 percent of his donors, opensecrets.org reported.

If that wasn’t bad enough his campaign manager sounded like a wet noodle.

“… We’ll probably file an amended report as soon as possible.”

I hope he is more forthcoming about his morgage business but given how he handes his FEC reports I doubt it.

    1. He once had a commander mouth off that what the country needed was a coup. Lincoln called him in and told him he wouldn’t cashier him for the remark because only a successful commander could dare think about a coup and he wanted to do everything he could to win the war!  The guy walked out about 2 inches high and never took on the president again. Lincoln’s greatness was in his humility, he never let his ego get in front of his goals.

        1. Is the attempt to equate Bush with Lincoln. These Republicans bet the farm on the ignorance of the masses, and then do everything they can to gut higher education.

          Shameful, disgusting and extremely unenlightened.

    2. With all of the generals Bush has “retired”, I’m surprised our current corps isn’t down to the privates.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Blackwater CEO Eric Prince is our next CENTCOM commander, though…

  2.    Everyone’s favorite contortionist, Willard “Mittens” Romney, has come out of seclusion to launch his campaign for the Republican V.P. nomination.  Where else to kick off such a campaign but on Faux-News with Hannity and Colmes!

I suspect that this trial balloon will gain about as much altitude as Bill Clinton’s suggestion that Obama agree to run with H.R.C.
