  1. You guys are an hour early here, heading up to ski some pow??

Anyway, related to Castle Rock open carry:

if anyone is, or knows, Mr. Jamie LaRue of CR, please ask him to contact me at my confidential e-mail address.  Thank you.

    And, thank you you Alva.

    ( . . . this PSA probably shoulda' been a diary, huh? . . . )

      1. I think he's alluding to the kind of jingoism that equates loving your own country with hating other people's.You know. Like when we were all supposed to hate anything French when they declined to help us invade Iraq for no good reason. Freedom fries. Dirty looks from the guy behind you at checkout when buying a nice Bordeaux. We're number one. Everybody else sucks. That kind of thing.

            1. Here you go – the game! And the results go up here at noon.

I've received a ton of thank-yous from the students, and the professors. My company doesn't benefit from this and it's pretty expensive to put on. But still, worth every bit of the effort.

I'm definitely an old man though. I worked a straight 13-1/2 hours yesterday and I was wiped at the end. Some of our interns left to go party after working all day.

As to the future – these kids are going to rock it.

      1. I am always angered by those red-necked white folks who talk about sending people " back to where they came from". There were spanish speaking people here long before the "white eyes" showed up with their diseases and their whiskey. It isn't "the Red River"…it is "the Colorado".

And even before that it was "Aha Kwahwat" to the Mohave tribe and "Ha Tay G'am Sil Gsvgov" to the Havasupai. For millenia it was not a "border"…just a nuisance to cross in the springtime.

        1. For millenia it was not a "border"…just a nuisance to cross in the springtime.

and, of course, I'm referring to the "Pecos" here, not the Colorado.

      2. It just didn't cross far enough.

Look it up. The treaty that "settled" things in 1852 was sabotaged, or mismanaged due to ineptitude. He was directed to include the Colorado river Delta, the Baja, and, of corse, the rail friendly terrain of the Sonoran Desert. We bought the flattest parts shortly after, but Trist screwed up the last 160 years of US Mexican border management. The cartels must love that guy.

            1. Pictures are way too fun not to use. First find a picture you like online, at the best size and resolution possible. Right click on that image until you see a link that says " copy image location". Copy that url. Then go back to your comment.  Click on the little picture icon above (3rd row down, extreme left, of course).

Paste the image url in the "url" line and press OK. The image should appear in your post. Submit the comment. That's all! Other  instructions for the esoteric CK editor which Pols uses  are available at the ? icon above.

                1. Try, try again.  There are some formats that don't work – gifs sometimes won't. Very large file sizes sometimes won't work. Uploading images from your home computer won't work unless Pols places it for you. Same with videos in diaries.  But generally, if it's an online jpg with an actual location for the image itself, as opposed to the page address, it does work.

    1. I read the Confessions pieceIf I was in charge of the TSA, I'd be scared.. I'd be thinking, "Damn! They're on to us." I've always known that most of what they do is just for show. It pacifies the FoxNews crowd and doesn't do a damned thing for real security. They missed the panty-bomber, after all. TSA is nothing but a damned inconvenience for the vast majority of travelers. So much so that last fall my wife and I drove to Chicago for our neice's wedding rather than tolerate the crap that is involved in flying these days.
