All 3 CD-2 hopefuls in one spot!

  • by: Al

Here’s an article I didn’t expect to see this morning! And look who got them all together?

http://www.rockymountainnews.c…

The three Democratic candidates for the 2nd Congressional District temporarily will cease fire Tuesday to host a campaign kickoff for a Jefferson County commissioner hopeful.

Joan Fitz- Gerald, Will Shafroth and Jared Polis are among 15 Democrats who will host the event for Jason Bane, a communications and public re- lations director.

How did Bane get the three candidates – whose race has been marked by finger pointing and accusations – to agree to host?

“I asked them,” he said. “I think they have an interest in seeing good government in Jefferson County.”

Part of Jefferson County is in the 2nd District.

Bane, 30, faces incumbent Republican Kevin McCasky, who could not be reached for comment.

In 2005, Bane helped found an anonymous political blog, ColoradoPols.com. His identity later was outed. Bane said he is only an occasional contributor now. He said he plans to blog now and then, but not on his race or on Jefferson County issues.

Bane and his wife, Julie, are Jefferson County natives. They have a daughter, Stella, 18 months.

Asked why he is running, Bane said, “I’ve lived here my whole life, and I’m sick and tired of the mismanagement in Jefferson County. It’s been going on for years.”

The county commission has been criticized for hiring a private eye to investigate private citizens. And the former county treasurer has been indicted in connection with an alleged kickback scheme.

Bane’s campaign kickoff party will be Tuesday.

          1. Jason has a very strong list of elected officials on his kick off announcement, but I do not see the Party Officers, or the term limited Rep. Cheri Jahn.

Jahn has been widely rumored to be looking at the seat.

I don’t know if Linda Rockwell is considering the race or not, but she could be a very strong Jeffco contender if she wanted to enter the race.
