I got three emails in tonight with partial results. These are unverified and posted here as emailed to me. We’ll have more tomorrow:
straw poll in boulder precinct 143
polis 45
fitz-gerald 40
(Boulder County Precinct 135), The preference poll vote was 39-39-3 (Fitz-Gerald/Polis/Shafroth).
Nederland:
They voted 32 for Fitz-Gerald, 44 for Polis, and 22 undecided.
My own home precinct in Boulder was 57 for me 15 for Joan, and 19 undecided.

but the aggregate of our 8 Boulder precincts last night I believe slightly favored Joan F-G with you sir running a close second. I was surprised because my gut feeling was the Polis campaign would be substantially ahead in our neighborhoods. The confusion over “where do we write down our CD-2 delegates?” certainly didn’t help.

precinct 095: 18 Polis, 17 Fitz-Gerald, and 14 umcommitted; but delgates favored Polis
precinct 097(the one next to my): 25 Polis, 15 Fitz-Gerald, and 7 uncommitted
I don’t know delgates for this.
A friend from Gold Hill told me that the vote was heavily in favor of Polis (she was sad because she’d a JFG fan). But I don’t have the actual numbers.
I was in Adams County and didn’t get straw poll results but got some delegate results and preferences.
Out of the 7 precincts I counted 6 of the delegates and 7 of the alternates going to the CD 2 assembly were for Fitz-Gerald and 1 delegate for Polis.
Adams County seemed about 2/3 Fitz-Gerald, 1/3 Polis overall.
All very different from my precinct. I’m happy to see this as I do want a competitive race for this seat.
And the concensus does seem to be clear on one point – Will needs to step it up.
You said something about Will elsewhere. I don’t get your comment. He isn’t particpating in the caucus process. Joan and Jared have both been speding tremendous time and energy campaiging for the caucuses. How can you think that Will’s results at caucuses he wasn’t even participating in have any bearing on anything? That’s like saying Obama should have stepped in up in Florida–where he wasn’t participating and subsequently lost to Clinton. It doesn’t make any sense.
At the begining they very clearly gave all 3 names. When one person questioned including Will the reply was it’s a straw poll and we could include anyone for that. Everyone agreed to that and voted on that basis.
So for my precicnt at least, he was considered equally.
and someone was there to speak on his behalf as well.
At least one of the other candidates was targeting Will’s supporters, telling them that although they can vote for Will in August, Will isn’t running in the caucus and so they should go ahead and support them. All I’m saying is that you can’t possibly believe that a tally where one of the “candidates” wasn’t actively campaigning or participating is an accurate reflection of that candidates strength generally. Unless, of course, you believe that campaiging had no impact on results.
It doesn’t matter how many they got. What matters is the preference polls were used to select delegates, and the preference polls were the presidential race and the Senate race. So there’s no necessary connection between who voted for who in the CD 2 race and how many delegates Jared and Joan will get.
But until somebody does an analysis of the delegates AND releases that information, this is the best we are going to get.
In my caucus, one campaign took advantage of a few anti-Udall protest votes to gain a delegate by voting as a block for Uncommitted.
I wasn’t at the Dem caucus, but word on the street is that Eagle and Summit County are Jared Polis Country

As far as JP is concerned — there is no Republican running for CD2
I think JFG and WS are good people — but of the three candidates, Jared has the best understanding of Western Slope issues, in addition to the best history of work here on the Western Slope
I got to meet Jared at his New School in Gypsum and was deeply impressed with his concern over our local community here in Eagle, and his priority to personally visit Gypsum often — he’s very beloved here on the Western Slope and for good reason
I’m proud of being Republican and I disagree with Polis on many many issues – but I put my people ahead of my Party – Jared Polis demonstrates that he would be the best Congressman for Eagle and Summit County

Ok, it looks like CD-2 is wide open. Will in first place, that means he is getting serious traction in some places. This is good, a highly competitive primary teaches us more about each candidate and makes them better legislators (usually).

What an amazing caucus night for Colorado and the nation. Our election process brings us together around moving our country forward. This election is clearly about America’s future.
Last night the people of Colorado experienced what democracy is all about, and a record number of people participated in the caucus process, people who want to see a brighter future with new ideas and new vision. Thank you all for being a part of this history-making event. We are taking on the establishment and winning at every turn.
The voters are tired of the old way of doing things. Across Colorado, tens of thousands of new voters, including many young people, came out for the first time, representing what democracy is all about and all calling for the same thing: A change to business as usual. A new direction and a better future. We’ve had enough of establishment politicians and special interests telling us who to vote for.
The energy of our over 180 volunteers helped propel us to great success on caucus night, and we will carry our momentum forward towards the August 12th and November 4th elections. Thank you for helping to make caucus such a great success for the Jared Polis campaign. It is your efforts, contributions, and votes that will allow me to work for change.
As we move ahead through the next six months, I look forward to your support in being the force of change that Colorado desires. Together, we will pave the way for a new direction and a brighter future for our state and our nation.

Both campaigns have spent a lot of money on field organizers in order to win top line on the primary ballot. Field organizers are to compile the results from straw polls in every caucus and add them up. Will either Joan Fitz-Gerald or Jared Polis step up and give the honest numbers that their own staff compiled?
You would think at least the winner would do this.
Reporting their own set of numbers showing them on top?
BTW, I know of two sets of results in Gilpin precincts: one was 24-14-4 Joan/Jared/Uncommitted, one was 26-0 Joan.
Assuming they weren’t lying (I know… a stretch for politicians) they would be reporting how many of their folks became delegates. That should at least tell them how many certain votes they will get later. As for the folks that became delegates that aren’t Polis or Fitz-Gerald people…I guess their vote is up in the air. If they don’t release any of their information, it could be May until we know any more.
I don’t think either camp has a lot to gain by making up numbers, considering both sides have those numbers.
I would like to join the chorus of voices “thanking” Mark Benner for the fine job he did in messing up the CD-2 race while not actively campaigning for the Senate spot he supposedly wants to fill.
