Jared Polis' TV commercial on health insurance

  • by: Republican 36

Last night as I was drifting off to sleep during the 10:00 p.m. 9News when I swear I saw a TV commerical from Polis for Congress focusing on the uninsured.  The subject matter wasn’t a surprise but the video was . . . naked individuals walking in and out of the doctor’s office with their genitals and/or chests blurred out . . . I guess the point is that those who cannot afford health insurance are “going bare” but it sure seemed in poor taste all the way around.  What do others think and who is his media consultant?

  1. I understand that they were trying to be humorous, but it just didn’t work.

the consultant is the same company that did Hickenlooper’s commercials.  I think they are out of Minnesota

  2. of course I’m also 23 and a Polis supporter, so…

I can see kinda how one might find it offensive…but it’s hard to see JP winning if he plays it safe.

    1. I do question the wisdom of running an ad this early.  He is basically screaming “HEY I’M GOING TO BURN THROUGH MY RAISED CASH THIS SPRING AND THEN BURY YOU UNDER SELF FUNDED ADS SO LATE YOU CAN’T USE THE MILLIONAIR EXCEPTION TO RAISE MORE MONEY”

If I were the campaigns I would be even more aggressive on pushing the campaign on what he is in kinding to the campaign and what he is not reporting as a campaign expense (i.e. I’ll have the lawyers figure out what is a campaign expense or not) to force a quicker triggering of the millionair ammendment.

      1. Though, it may be pretty good strategery.  I don’t know that “average voters” (as if anyone has figured out what the hell an “average voter” is) would care all that much.  JFG and WS would need some pretty educated voters to care about Polis’ strategy regarding the millionaires amendment.

(Somewhat) Interesting side note:  I was talking about this race w/ some people earlier today and one of them brought up essentially the same thought you have here about Polis blowing through cash.  I said I thought it was a good idea and if I was running the campaign, I would basically do the same thing to limit JFG and WS’s response time at the end of the campaign b/c voters are too dumb to care and/or notice.  One of them gleefully responded, “Dude, you could totally be the Dem version of Karl Rove!  You think voters are retards and you don’t mind dirty campaigning!”  Let’s just say I needed a cold shower when I got home…  😛
