Last week Congress passed a new mining bill that puts more teeth in mining oversight. Interestingly, although it passed the House, only Diana DeGette voted for it. The rest of our Democratic congressmen, Udall, Salazar, and Perlmutter voted against it.
You don’t suppose that mining industry lobbyists, with all that cash for campaign contributions, had anything to do with their vote, do you?
I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of legalized bribery. It’s time for public financing of federal elections.
