Two Democrats rolled out video introductions this week. Joan Fitz-Gerald posted a video introduction on her Website, and Rep. Diana DeGette used video as a preview of the 2008 congress.
What do you think? Poll follows…

DeGette has better production value but can’t host the video herself or even embed the youtube link? Fitz-Gerald’s is goofy too with that pop up window and limp looking fern. Doesn’t seem like they spent much energy making it.
It says a lot for ppl who are this inept. Sadly, the vast majority of ppl will not realize how poor the job was done. I have to say that whenever I see jobs like this, I always wonder what the ppl are like. It is like the site that was pushing for an alternative launch system for NASA. It was so bad that Google could not read it. I figure that they can not put together a simple web site, then how the blazes can you trust them to make a rocket. Same of politicians. Have to say, that is one reason why I like Polis.
DeGette is big picture as usual! We are lucky to have her.
Not to mention Fitzy had an opportunity to shoot a TON of video on this past episode of Caldera’s Independent Thinking along with the other CD-2 candidates, but failed to show up to the debate.
and not given Jon (I see Dildo’s in the Art!) Caldara the time of day. Giving him credibility is as almost as bad as thinking Sean Insanity or MAnn Coulter are “reporters.”
What I kept thinking was that there was the kernel of a great video there trying to get out. But it’s difficult to get people who can make a great video, very very difficult.
And Diana sold the Dem congress while Joan sold herself. Those are very different tasks and each picked the right taks but it’s hard to directly compare because of that.
So good job both.
I somehow made it onto a wingnut mailing list and got a link to this from Greg Brophy. It’ll make you think better of DeGette and Fitz-Gerald’s efforts.
I kept getting the feeling that it was in a room at the state mental hospital and he had just taken off his tinfoil hat. Horrible body movement and setting.
Brophy says that Governor Ritter (best to mention him by name) accomplished the “unionization of the state employee workforce.” But is that really a done deal? Are all state workers, as of today, in a union? Brophy doesn’t state why he feels the property tax increase was “illegal.” Is it due to TABOR?
I’m not quite sure which part of Colorado Brophy represents: is he giving a “shout-out” to his “homies” by mentioning where the farmers, who need more water, are located?
Brophy packed several issues, and a negative spin on Governor Ritter, into a short amount of space — but not effectively. He ends with the focus on himself, not his opponent.
If she’s an “agent of change,” she ought to start off by saying that. Why do I have to “look at [her] record”? Why can’t she tell me, in her own words, her major accomplishments in the first twenty seconds or so? The family stuff can come at the end, if she wants to compare families in Colorado in 1977 to families in Colorado today.
I wasn’t that impressed by the video — although I wouldn’t necessarily say that about her as a politician.
If she’s selling the Democrats’ vision, perhaps it would be best to announce that at the start. “It’s a New Day in America…thanks to the Democratic majority in Congress.” After that, she could then say, “…working with our Republican colleagues we’ve led the way to do [blank], [blank], [blank]…” Then she can involve citizens: “With your help, we can pass this, that and the other in 2008.”
I didn’t think the imagery was that effective or grabbing.
