Actually one year form today we will have a new Governor-elect. He/she will not take office until Jan. 2007.
I am going to go out on a limb and predict that the person who will be that new Gov. is a person who has not yet announced their candidacy for the office.
Sorry Dan, I know you are running for something… eventually, but don’t you think Governor is a bit of a stretch?
Dan:
I fully agree with you. BR, MH and BB will be history.
Question is, who will it be (and no, I don’t think it is you)? And will there be another R to get in the race?
Look for Michael Moore to make a contribution to BB from his Haliburton profits.

Ritter out?? No way, he’s on a mission and the more liberal side of the party just is not getting their act together. He may be joined, but everything I hear from that side of the house is that he is riding this one all the way in.
Beauprez out?? Okay, I’m not unbiased here… I really want Beauprez to stay in the 7th. I have a friend who insists that this is one big ploy to get BB re-elected to the 7th. I’m not sure I buy all of it, but here’s how the conspiracy goes:
Have him run for GOV, build a state wide base and a million $$ war chest, then drop out to run for the 7th. He sends off a letter begging to keep the GOV money for the FED race (and if chased by or sent with letters from Schaffer and Martinez, might be able to keep most of it), still keeps his state-wide supporters and also pulls in supports from MH’s people who are so grateful for him leaving them with a front runner. Then the Black Helicopters find Elvis living with Big Foot in California… But that is how the conspiracy goes (Happy now Dom?)
Holtzman was up here on the Northern edge of the state yesterday and I just don’t see how he can do anything but go all the way. I think the papers who say he lost in the Ref C fight are bogus. He and BB tried different tactics to win and among the GOP faithful, BB lost hands down to Holtzman’s “failed” fight. Anyone who says otherwise (and I know you will) either doesn?t know what you’re talking about because you are loyal to BB and don’t get out enough or you’re just spinning the propaganda.
My friends in Douglas County keep talking about Tom Weins… But when I tell them to get real they concede he has no chance to actually win, but might do it just to set himself up for Senate Pres.
I can see Romie getting in, and can also see Coffman coming back from Iraq and making a power play until someone gives him a deal.
All in all though, I’m pretty sure it’s going to be Holtzman and Ritter on next NOV’s ballot.
Thanks for the good laugh Go Riaders…I needed it today (home sick).
And for the record, I have no interest in ever being Governor.
It’s like being the shy girl at the dance, Dan…everybody knows its nice to be asked.
Weins is like a elementary school bully, and will never be elected to anything higher than state senate. No one can really stand the man.
And there is no chance of Holtzman vs. Ritter. That’s like Miles vs. Shaffer for the US Senate…there’s just no way. The Governor’s office is too big for amateur night. This race will change dramatically after the first of the year, and the only one who will still be on the ballot next November is BB. The Dems will absolutely have a bigger player than that guy from Denver.
Did anyone see that Perlmutter challenged O’Donnell to disclose taxpayer funds going to the Cheney event? Interesting press release on Perlmutter’s website.
I wonder if any media will pick this up or if it will dissipate like a fart in the wind.
I think the Republican side is set with Holtzman and Beauprez. If Beauprez was not running then I think either McInnis Coffman, or Campbell would get in the race, but I don’t see Beauprez getting out. As for Wiens, he wants to run, but he doesn’t have the name ID or the organization to pull it out.
I’m just glad we’ll have a new Governor! We’ll be able to dump Billy-boy forever!!!!! May we never have another Republican Gov. like him!
it’s 6:30 mountain time and results are starting to come in from other states:
Virginia- Dem’s kept the Governor’s Office
New Jersey – too early to tell polls only closed 1/2 hour ago
Maine- the effort to repeal gay-rights laws is just starting to come in
California is still voting.
Just In:
GWB has now borrowed more from foreign countries that all previous presidents COMBINED! And where has it gone? I’m shocked! Shocked I tell ya. National security president? Fiscal responsibility? Uniter? What a joke! WORST PRESIDENT AND CONGRESS EVER.
Update on elections:
* Kaine won in VA, carrying Virginia Beach (home of Pat Robertson)
* Corzine won in NJ
* The Dover, PA school board was swept clean of Intelligent Design proponents (all 8 seats!)
* Maine voted to keep its gay rights legislation
* Texas outlawed marriage (or so some say)
* Ohio defeated reform efforts
* St. Louis ousted Bush-endorsing Democrat incumbent mayor for a “real” Democrat in a 2-1 landslide.
* NYC Mayor Bloomberg kept his job (he just signed up for the GOP side ’cause the Dem slate was full anyway…)
* At this time, it appears that all of the Governator’s initiatives are going down in flames, along with parental notification, drug “benefits”, and energy pseudo-re-regulation (in short, everything on the ballot).
* Reports across the country are trending heavily Democratic in local races; several stories on the liberal blogs on “infamous” religious reactionary state legislative candidates going down in flames.
I call that a good night!
This sure is a lefty liberal web site………I’ll never admit my party likings for fear of getting shot.
