I just got an email from Mark Benner of Anton CO.
He tells me that I am authorized to tell you that
he will announce his candidacy for Colorado’s open US Senate seat as a Colorado Democrat tonight at 7 pm at the Mercury Cafe in Denver during a previously scheduled event.
Event info at:

He may be reached at:

I’m sure campaign donations would be welcome from those who want to see campaign debates on the issues important to liberals, progressives and moderates.

What is Impeach the Colorado Coalition?
the US House of Representatives to file articles of impeachment
against the river that runs from near Rocky Mountain Park almost to the Golfo de California,
alleging high crimes and misdemeanors.
You want to see a debate on these issues at the expense of risking a Senate seat? Take a look at Udall’s record, and not just what he has been doing since running for Senate. Then leave him alone. He has a hard enough job winning in a state with 200k more Republicans. He doesn’t need this kind of “help.”
Stop beating the impeachment drum. Impeachment would be a colossal waste of time and money. Pursuing impeachment would overshadow the Democratic Congressional agenda, would make the Dems look as cynical as the Republicans did when they impeached Bill Clinton, and would alienate moderate voters throughout the country. Plus, there aren’t enough votes in the Senate to convict Bush or Cheney under any scenario. Furthermore, these guys will be out of office in a year.
Mark Benner’s candidacy is a joke and an unnecessary distraction from the effort to keep radical Bob Schaffer out of the Senate. Or is this a Republican stunt to steer progressives away from Udall, just like the Republicans have secretly supported Green party candidates in the past? Has anyone checked whether Benner is a Focus on the Family puppet?
