  1. My main guess is that the results will be uncertain and close at the end of the night and the press won’t wait for a final count but will declare a winner based on the initial results.

Dems – I think all 3 will be within 2 points of each other. If I had to guess, Obama/Clinton/Edwards. If I got to pick Edwards/Obama/Clinton.

Repubs – Huckabee over Romney with McCain in a far 3rd place

    1. If I got to pick, I’d pick the same first two.  But I wouldn’t mind if Clinton came in behind Biden, Dodd and Richardson, too.  I do think you’re wrong about Clinton coming in first, though. Guess we’ll see soon enough.

As for Huckabee, he sure is making Dan Quayle look like a genius. Somebody ought to  direct that guy  to a news site or show him a newspaper once in a while.  It’s GW all over again but without any evil geniuses around him to pull the strings.

    2. There aren’t any ballots to count…remember?  The caucuses don’t last more than a few hours at the most.  When I was there 4 years ago, I “observed” one of the larger precincts just south of Des Moines and it was done w/in 1.5 hours.  Reporting the results is done by phone (or at least it has been in the past) so at least on the Dem side, things should be pretty much “official” by 7:30 or 8pm our time.  Repubs start 30mins later but should finish just about as quickly.

  2. With the change in the CD-5 Big Line apparently Rayburn will be changing the “complevion” of the race. Two gold starts to the best post explaining the definition of the word “complevion” …extra credit if you can provide origin.

    1. Main Entry: Complevion

      Pronunciation: \ k?m-?plek-v?-?n\

      Function: intransitive verb

Etymology: Middle English, from Medieval Latin complev?, from Latin, to comple.

      Date: 15th century

1: to proceed or arise as a consequence, effect, or conclusion (death “complevioned” from the disease) b: to have an issue or result (the disease “complevioned” in death).

      1. Is simply an abbreviation of complete oblivion:

Example 1 – “If W dosen’t get his way, he’ll bomb the middle east into complevion.”

Example 2 – “Holy crap, those Americans are bombing us into complevion”

      1. For those who know local El Paso County politics… I think Reginald Perry, Ed Jones, Greg Garcia, Daryl Glen and Willie Breazell would all be kinda offended by that! 😉
