Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all my friends without faces here on Colorado Pols.

We’re damn lucky to live as free men and women. Fortunate as hell to have more than enough to eat and a warm place to call home. We live incredibly well in America and I hope we never take that privilege for granted.

Our freedom was bought in blood hundreds of years ago. It was defended against countless enemies for many years… Hitler, Stalin, and many others would have taken away our freedom if they were able. I want to extend my personal gratitude to every soldier, airman, sailor, and marine who is away from their family this Christmas season; some of them are away forever… You are citizens of this country and daily you guarantee in blood, sweat, and tears our continued freedom. Thank you.

This post is dedicated to my dear friend Laura and to her comrade in arms, Nate, may he rest in peace.

  1. You might be able to express your gratitude more concretely by visiting an occupied bridge in the metro area and chances are very good that one in four of the males you find there are suffering from acute combat related PTSD. A canned ham and a saw buck for some cheap medicine will make you both feel better.  He may not be able to stand his watch any longer for your better sleep at night, but then again some streets are meant to go both ways.

  2. THIS war has nothing to do with preserving our freedom.

That said, all should respect all those who are serving honorably in theaters around the world.

    1. …a couple of months ago, started by kate, I believe.  The question put forth is how do liberals honor the vets without endorsing war as a good thing?  Generally, not just right now.

A lot of good thoughts came forth.

  3. It is Christmas Eve and I can’t stop thinking about losing John Parr, Sandy Widener and their daughter Chase this past weekend. I can’t stand that Christmas is going on without them.
