The dead guvs are smoking too much of that newly legal Denver product. Ref C can within an ace of carrying Douglas County, a testimony to the clout that Sullivan and Melanie Worley have. A whisker defeat in a 2-1 Republican county helped put C over the top. Sullivan rocks.
Jim is an old bat who missed too much on the job. He has the worst attendance record ever. Good riddance.
Jim did have a spate of illness. But he is one of the very few legislators of either party who understand water issues and local government. He ‘s worth 20 Joe Stengels. And he’ll whupass any primary opponent.
Charcie is the best, i wish her well, and i pledge my support for her.
I honestly don’t know Jim Sullivan very well, but when I was working other issues in Douglas County last year, I heard a lot GOPers lamenting he was getting a might long in the tooth and should think about retiring. Keep in mind the GOP-types willing to talk in my Democratic presence are more likely to be at his end of the spectrum than his opponents.
It’s great for the future of Democrats in Colorado that the Republican Party is going back to its old ways of self-destruction by paying attention to the extremists.
All too true, Alansmitheee. One of the reasons I left the Democratic party in the ’70s was that I was tired of its intranecine warfare. But as a moderate Republican who would rather see good schools and a healthy business climate instead of shrieking about gay marriage, I once again find myself manning the barricades against the Visigoth hordes trying to storm the gate. As my daughter said to me recently, there really is no political party for people like us. But as long as I have friends like Jim Sullivan, I’ll still proudly call myself a Republican.
A few years ago, I worked for a company that Vic Mitchell tried to take over. He destroyed the company rather than let the former owner keep control. A bunch of employees were left with no jobs and lost thousands of dollars each in unpaid wages. This is not a good guy.
Jim also supported (sponsored bills for) toll roads against property owners. The Irish clad is out!
Jim is gone. Don’t forget that he sponsored and supported the PRIVATE toll road bills that created a huge controversy. This will surely draw out all those private property rights owners to ensure he doesn’t go back. Especially in light of today’s news from the US House of Representatives and the President’s statement today of supporting the bill, which would deny federal funding to any state or local government who takes away private property for the use of private business.
This is not good for Jim. He is on his way out the door. Two years is all he gets at the Golden Dome.

I had no idea Charcie was thinking about running in this race but she would be a fantastic candidate. I have known her for quite some time and believe she is a rising star among women in the Colorado GOP. I hope she follows through with it.
Charcie better get hot with tossing her hat in this race, I got a call from a friend yesterday who met with Mitchell and has been converted. This is the third person I know, who was a supporter of Charcie and is now on board with Victor.
Right now, this is a race between Mitchell and Russell, whoever wins that fight will sit the 45th House. Sully might not go gently into that good night… but go he shall. He just sold his soul one too many times for the Super Slab last session.
I like Charcie a lot. I liked Sully until he started voting last January. I met Victor Michell last week and there is just no way Charcie or Sully have a chance against the guy.
Chacie is a nice lady, but until you get to know her, she does not come off as an intelligent person. I thought for months that she was just a pretty face for the Tancredo office and although she is well known and liked among the DCRW and Tancredo Camp followers in Douglas, no one else knows her, they just know of her.
The fact that both Russel and Mitchell think they can run against a guy like Sully (17 years as County Commissioner in Douglas?) means he is done. We just have to get through the shouting part.

I don’t think its so much that people don’t want Christians taking part in politics, but rather people don’t like certain religious views forced upon all whether we agree or not. So it more that “people” don’t like extreme Christians such as Mr. Dobson who think they know what is right for all. If Mr. Dobson wants to actually run for office though, let him and see how many votes he gets.
My guess, and its only a guess, is that citizens wouldn’t want extreme/radical Muslims running or trying to run our country.
The U.S. is a melting pot of different traditions, values, and beliefs, however certain groups view themselves as the Know All End ALL.
Friends of mine in Castle Rock filled me in on Sullivan last month. I guess they actually go to the same Anglican church as Sullivan, where he is a Sr. member of the church board.
They don’t know what to make of the guy. When the Episcopal church appointed the gay bishop, my friends say Sullivan was livid about “homosexuals encroaching into our lives” (his words 2nd hand, not mine). So he spearheads this effort to pull the church out of the Episcopal Church, fired the old priest, all in the name of defending everyone’s morals. Not bad for folks who like that sort of stuff.
Then he gives up all of his “moral” votes in the House just to trade votes for Super Slab. No wonder the guy is has a primary.

Further, should people who are running for office be the only ones allowed to offer opinions? If so Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, and Al Frankan should keep quiet.
I am not quite sure where you are going with the muslim comparison, but I have yet to see a Christian strap a bomb to themself and blow up a group of innocent people. So whereevr you are going with this comparison is comparing apples to oranges.

Alright, let’s try some clarifying….
First, I being somewhat moderate to liberal (not all Liberal/Progressive though) gone out and told people they MUST have abortions or else they will go to hell. Nor have I said that everyone in a hetrosexual relationship is going to hell. However, extreme Christians believe and consistly say the opposite, if I have an abortion I am kiling which in turn leads me to hell; if I am gay or support gay rights that I am also going to hell.
Second, the Muslim comparision: not all Extreme Muslims strap bombs to themselves and blow people up; but they do all hold extreme views of their religion which they feel/believe everyone should follow. So the comparision between extreme Christians and extreme Muslims fits.
Now I could be wrong, has happened once or twice in my lifetime *smile*, but at no point in my life has my pro-choice views on abortion hurt anyone (sorry zagots don’t count to me, they may to you).
How have I forced my opinions on you? Have I come to your house and threatened you? No, so then you can read my opinions, disgaree with them, and go upon your way. Unfortunetly, the same can’t be said for people like Mr. Dobson who continue to look at people with different views as a threat to his life and the life of every Christian (extreme or not) in the country and actively persue ways to rid the world of us “bad people”.
I think opinions are good, that’s why we have both CNN and MSNBC, so people can listen to both sides of an argument and decide for themselves, my fear is the deciding for yourself is being reduced.

So are you trying to lump all Christians into the extreme catagory? In fact I will challenge you to bring up one credible leader in the Christian movement that has said that if someone has an abortion, if they are gay, or if they support gay rights they are going to hell. (And Fred Phelps doesn’t count because he is definately not credible). If you understood Christianity you would realize that there is no sin that cannot be forgiven and everyone has a chance to go to heaven.
Again, I think you are comparing apples to oranges with your Muslim vs. Christian examples. Extreme Muslims hold that everyone who is not a Muslim must convert or be destroyed, but Christians don’t believe that at all.
As for your views on abortion I don’t agree with them, I believe that abortion kills a life.
How have liberals forced their opinions on me? First, liberals have said if I don’t agree with gay marriage or the gay lifestyle I am a bigot. They have said that abstinance should not be taught in public schools as an alternative to sex. Liberals have forced Evolution into the schools and won’t even let Creationism be mentioned. Need I go on?
I never said that you threatened me, nor have I ever threatened you. Nor has Dr. Dobson ever threatened you, nor Ted Haggard, nor Billy Graham.
Finally I have two questions for you:
If my moral values are just my opinion, aren’t your values just opinion too? Why should your opinion be any better than mine?
If each person has to decide what’s right and wrong for himself/herself, why do you insist that something wrong for you also is wrong for me?
I’ve know Vic for over 10 years, and he has made all his business decisions in the best interests of the employees every time. In fact, when his last business was sold, he refused to sell unless the employees shares were purchased as well.(The buyer didn’t want to.)
