Hillary Getting Desperate?

Now, I’ve never been a fan of Hillary Clinton so this news is all the sweeter to me.  Over the last little while Hillary’s campaign has been striking a very desperate tone.  I first heard part of it when I heard a story on the radio where Hillary was criticizing an Obama statement where he said that he hadn’t been planning on running for President as long as some people.

In response, Clinton dredged up statements from when Obama was in Kindergarten.  I think this Democrat, the admin for one of my favorite political site (aside from Pols, of course) Politics1.com, put it best when he said:

When a major White House candidate attacks a rival for comments made to classmates while he was a kindergarten student — kindergarten!! — you know the attacker has become laughably pathetic. What next? Maybe an attack on the opponent for “broken promises” because he told friends in second grade was going to be an astronaut and walk on the moon when he grew up — but “he never later applied to be a NASA astronaut.” Actually … that would be what Hillary could say if she was attacking me today since said I really wanted to be an astronaut when I was in elementary school. I also once got busted by my Mom for stealing candy and a pack of baseball cards from a 7-11 when I was maybe eight years old (note: I got away clean but she made go back there, confess, and pay the 20 or 25 cents for the stuff) — oh, and I inhaled, too — so obviously there’s way too much dirt in my past school days to ever be able to run against a Clinton.

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

This is remarkably pathetic, even for Clinton.  But my question for you Democrats that come by here is how much does stuff like this affect your view of Clinton?  Do attacks like this turn any of you off towards Clinton?  Does Clinton’s attack on Obama work?  Are you less likely to vote for him knowing that back in Kindergarten he really did want to be President of the United States?

Obviously my fellow Republicans are welcome to participate in this as well, but this should pretty much confirm what we already think about Clinton.

This attack makes me ______ Clinton

  1. Her numbers have been falling and either of the other two top candidates in the primary could easily take Iowa and turn the race around on her.

Maybe Obama knows what he wrote back in Kindergarten, but I sure don’t.  For all I know, someone will dredge up my stunning hand-lettered kindergarten essay on “I want to be an axe-murderer” if I decide to run for office.  Did my kindergarten teacher even keep this stuff?

  2. The realy story of desperation here is Clinton and Dodd both opposing the right to vote for out of state students living in Iowa.  I don’t care what silly comments Clinton wants to drudge up about other candidates; I do care if she tells someone they can’t vote, when the constitution of the United States, as interpreted by the Supreme Court, gives them the absolute right to do so.

As for the kindergarten essay, I bet it would be really cute.  If Obama or his family still have it, he/they should release it to the press.

Incidentally, the astronaut thing is taken from the Obama campaign’s own response: “Next thing you know, she’ll be calling him a flip flopper because he told his second grade teacher he wanted to be an astronaut.”

    1. If they’re registered to vote and pay taxes in Iowa, that’s where they get to vote (and pay taxes).  Candidates have been whining about student voting locations for as long as I can remember – mostly when they don’t think they’ll be getting the student vote.
