Senate Majority Leader Ken Gordon announced several committee changes for the upcoming legislative session. Click below for the full press release.

Today Senate Majority Leader Ken Gordon (D-Denver) made the following changes to Senate committees for the 2008 session:

Senate President Pro-Tem Abel Tapia (D-Pueblo) will become the new chair of the State, Veterans and Military Affairs Committee, taking the position previously held by Senate President-Elect Peter Groff (D-Denver).

Senator Lois Tochtrop (D-Thornton) will leave the Agriculture, Natural Resources and Energy Committee and will join the Health and Human Services Committee.

Senator-Elect Dan Gibbs (D-Silverthorn) will join the Agriculture, Natural Resources and Energy Committee as well as the Transportation and Judiciary Committees.

Senator John Morse (D-Colorado Springs) will take Senator Groff’s seat on the Appropriations Committee and will vacate his positions on the Health and Human Services, Judiciary and Finance Committees.

Senator Jim Isgar (D-Hesperus) will move to the Finance Committee and will leave his position on the Transportation Committee.

The Senate Committee on Health and Human Services will become a seven person committee as opposed to a nine person committee.  Senate Assistant Majority Leader Brandon Shaffer (D-Longmont) will vacate his seat on that committee and Senate Minority Leader Andy McElhany (R-Colorado Springs) will decide which Republican member will leave.
