Schaffer Hits Campaign Trail...in Texas

Republican Senate candidate Bob Schaffer was a keynote speaker at a recent event in Texas. As the  Amarillo Globe News reports:

Former Colorado congressman and candidate for U.S. Senate Bob Schaffer entertained a crowd of nearly 2,000 people Tuesday morning with a story about his one-night “conversion” to the Baptist Church.

Schaffer, a Republican from Fort Collins, Colo., was the keynote speaker at the 18th annual Community Prayer Breakfast, held at the Amarillo Civic Center.

In a unity-themed speech, Schaffer talked about the time growing up in Ohio when he and several of his fellow Catholic friends were invited to attend a Baptist service one Wednesday night.

He said his friend Greg was in a contest to see who could bring the most guests to church. Greg brought Schaffer and five other Catholic boys and won the contest.

“He got to go to a camp or something. It sounded to me like a Baptist Disneyland,” Schaffer said.

When they arrived at the church, Greg introduced his friends to Pastor Phil.

“They started asking us some strange Baptist questions,” Schaffer said.

  1. 1) Note to Schaffer campaign. Stop traveling around with five Catholic boys. Doesn’t look good.

    2) Would love to hear the ‘strange Baptist questions’.  Was one of them, “What the f*** are you doing in Texas if you’re running for office in Colorado?”.

  2. When Schaffer got home, he told his mother what happened.

She immediately called Greg’s mother on the phone, hung up, and rushed Schaffer to the rectory at St. John’s to see the priest.

“Father, can you turn him back into a Catholic?” she asked the pajama-clad priest.

My intention is not to insult his mother, but this says a lot about BS and his up-bringing.
