UFO Commission Shelved

(Promoted due to impact on Denver elections – promoted by Elliot)

How did this
get missed?

UFO COMMISSION SHELVED: According to the Rocky Mountain News, a proposed ballot initiative to create a government commission in Denver tasked with developing a strategy to deal with space aliens on Earth is on hold. Jeff Peckman has generated national headlines with his proposed Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission. Peckman told the Rocky he will be in a “wait-and-see-mode” for a couple of months to figure out how President Obama will approach the subject.

That’s right, we’ll see how Obama rules.  He’d better do it quick, what could possibly be more important?

  1. The first Tuesday of May in odd-numbered years is reserved as a Municipal election day “if needed” in Denver.

There are no other city issues being advanced at this time which would require such an election.

The next scheduled election is the first Tuesday in November which will be a school board election. There is a good chance the legislature will put forward a referendum for that election as well.

The only thing that could change would be if any of the City officials were to resign and trigger a special election.

    1. Skipping an election is a good way to save money.  I don’t know about everyone else, but if some crackpot forces one I’ll be super pissed.  Worthwhile issue’s fine, but I agree one’s not forthcoming.

A Ref in November is inevitable (unless the leg. is suddenly made up of total idiots), I’ll wager a beer it’s TABOR related.
