  1. The most recent Columbine Courier tells us that Jeffco is the worst county in the state when it comes to processing Food Stamp applications, and that is going to cost us large money.  The Courier also tells us that Director Johnson attributes this awful standing to lack of staff training.  Now, excuse me, but didn’t KPMG make the same finding public in the audit report of 2006?  http://www.co.jefferson.co.us/… is the link to that report which outlines numerous failings on the part of Jeffco Human Services.  Now, since Director Johnson has had that job for more than a year, shouldn’t that staff be trained already?  How long does it take?

One might also ask why our stalwart commissioners have not seen to the correction of every adverse finding in that report.  How long do they and the director need?  Who is in charge there?  What are they doing instead of managing our county?  Isn’t it time for a more businesslike Jeffco?
