Just when I'd finally achieved dandelions–snow. Ah, Spring.
A rather depressing article by Al Lewis. Other than the fake housing bubble, I am not sure if middle class Americans ever were getting ahead, not for the past 100 years. Inflation is the secret destroyer.

You realize how ridiculous that sounds given the past 5 years of economy (hint: ultra-low inflation, still didn't help the middle class) and the actual statistics of the past 100 years (hint: there was almost no middle class at the beginning of that time frame), don't you?
No.
Look – there's always hope.
It usually gets dashed against the rocks on a stormy coastline, but still, it's out there, somewhere.
As all Cubs fans know.
Today's trivia question:
Secretary of War: Stanton
Secretary of the Navy: Welles
VP: Johnson
Secretary of State: Stanton
That's it for me, what are there half a dozen left? I gotta do some reading.
Sorry, SOS is Seward
Let's see, including the above, I can add a couple:
Good job roccoprahn & OrangeFree. I only could have named 2 others without looking it up. The full list is:
Vice President: Hannibal Hamlin & Andrew Johnson
Secretary of State: William H. Seward
Secretary of the Treasury: Salmon P. Chase, William P. Fessenden, & Hugh McCulloch
Secretary of War: Simon Cameron & Edwin M. Stanton
Attorney General: Edward Bates & James Speed
Postmaster General: Montgomery Blair & William Dennison
Secretary of the Navy: Gideon Welles
Secretary of the Interior: Caleb Blood Smith & John Palmer Usher
Looks like that sleeping giant isn't exactly the one ArapG had in mind if by "giant" he meant big fat majority.

And it's showing in plummeting approval rates for some of the legislators who voted against background checks.
First County in US Bans Oil and Gas Extraction
Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund, News Analysis: Monday the County Commission of Mora County, located in northeastern New Mexico, became the first county in the U.S. to pass an ordinance banning all oil and gas extraction. Drafted with assistance from the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund (CELDF), the Mora County Community Water Rights and Local Self-Government Ordinance establishes a local Bill of Rights—including a right to clean air and water, a right to a healthy environment and the rights of nature—while prohibiting activities which would interfere with those rights, including oil drilling and hydraulic fracturing for shale gas.

Mora County is just follwing God's plan : God put all that oil and gas under the surface for a reason. Except in PArachute Creek – then it's right on top.
That's right. If God had meant for us to use all that oil, he woulda made lakes of it, right on the surface. Instead he tried to hide it deep underground where we would never find it, down there in Dante's Purgatory.
Big news! Thanks for posting it, BC.
Can Hickenlooper sue them?
