Harsanyi's Public Meltdown: Columnist Resorts to Pretending Republicans Aren't Republicans

Denver Post conservative columnist David Harsanyi is very clearly and very publicly having a severe meltdown. It’s pretty hilarious. After having his anti-worker column this week torn to pieces, he first claimed that those who are opposed to the war are rooting for more American casualties in Iraq, and that I am hoping for a Great Depression. Now, he’s resorted to the hysterical claim that Aurora City Councilman Ryan Frazier (R) is not a Republican, libelously claiming that I “made it up.” No, I’m dead serious – he’s actually claiming that I “made up” Ryan Frazier’s Republican affiliation even though Frazier was a member of the Republican Leadership Program Graduate Class of 2002, is a prominent member of the Colorado Black Republican Forum (CBRF), and is a registered Republican in Colorado state government’s official voter file.

I must say – watching a person meltdown like this in the face of cold, hard facts is rather hilarious. I mean, I know I’m relatively new to Colorado – but I’ve been in the politics and writing business for a while, and I really have never seen anyone – a conservative or a liberal – just fall to pieces in public temper tantrums everytime someone brings up the facts. It’s really great comedy.

UPDATE: Rather than issuing a correction, Harsanyi actually reiterates that Aurora City Councilman Ryan Frazier, registered Republican, prominent member of the Colorado Black Republican Forum, and member of the Republican Leadership Program Graduate Class of 2002, is not a Republican. The depths of the pathological lying really know no bounds.

  1. Too bad Harsanyi’s only reliable tool is to do a “google” search. If you had worked a little harder, maybe on each issue he slurges about, he would have come to a different conclusion; but being a conservative himself he’s of course never wrong.

  2. The New York Times columnist David Brooks is conservative, and while I don’t always agree with Brooks, he generally has something interesting to say.

All Harsanyi can ever really come up with is wearing a tinfoil hat and shouting “the liberals are out to get me.”
