Hmm, I don’t know if I buy that Middleton is out. I don’t know her personally, but nothing I have heard about her suggests she’s someone naive enough to get into this race just to fold because Romanoff is in. Everyone knew Romanoff would get in, although some of us hoped he wouldn’t. Why would she have even bothered with the preliminaries if she was scared of a primary with Andrew? Newell at least gets a little positive press and a name ID boost from it, but if Middleton isn’t running for this seat, she isn’t running for reelection for anything else, either.
A lot of Democrats would like to see a powerful woman, and a lot of people are already unhappy that Romanoff is keeping the no-PAC pledge alive in yet ANOTHER race that he could well lose because of it. Middleton is a tough campaigner, she’s already been elected in that district, and she has as many fundraising connections as Andrew (and more options). If there’s going to be a woman in this race–and I feel there should be–Middleton sounds like it.

I always get burned in these situations, you never know. But I did hear yesterday that Middleton was not running too.
We might have to live with the no-PAC pledge. Hopefully we can spend around it, and hopefull he can raise around it. It's not smart t start this race with one hand tied behind your back though, agreed.
If no PAC includes do DCCC funding, and he loses, I'm done with him.
Does anyone see the circular firing squad of Romanoff staffers forming yet? Romanoff, get over the PAC thing. Get into Congress and then you can do some shit. Otherwise, you're just another member of Feddie and the Dreamers.
It definitely is not my usual practice to speak for Karen Middleton, but it has to be pointed out that there is just one reason Karen opted out of this race. The organization she heads, Emerge America, is organized as a 527. A bunch of campaign finance lawyers she consulted all agreed that you can't simultaneously be an employee of a 527 and a federal candidate. If she had filed to run, she would have had to immediately quit her job. She didn't want to do that, and she has a huge passion for the work of Emerge, so she chose to not run. That's the entire story.

As for Andrew, he's not my first choice but I'm right to fight for anyone who can beat Coffman. Let's go!

Andrew needs the primary to whip him into shape (or lose it).
I doubt that Andrew needs a primary. The problem is a primary would pull him to the left when to win in six he needs to occupy the Center that Coffman has abandoned. Andrew is an experienced campaigner and hardly needs to learn those ropes in a primary.
Exactly. He's done the right thing by announcing now. Campaigns for public office are equal opportunity – those who want to get in the race (primary or not) need to get in the race. I agree with the general statement that has been made by several, that Colorado needs more women elected to Congress. But this seat doesn't have anyone's name on it – may the best person win.

Romanoff has demonstrated the abilty toraise enough money forthis race.He has organization,wouldrepresentmy values better than Mr.Coffman. Ilive in this district.He's getting his shot.Ihope that he wins.

One of the problems with running in a HD is that is name recognition tends to be local. Karen did the library tax issue, but again, it has been a while since she and Larry left politics.
Andrew at least has more earned media, just because. But, he has been out of circulation a while.
Would Morgan do better? Probably. She has a wide base, much of the center of Aurora along with Adams Co. and all Dems in the district.
Odds of winning go to Morgan; then Andrew; and then Karen. I think any of the three could beat Coffman. The important thing to keep in mind is this is a want to win district. The Dem who runs will have big backing.
RE: update, I'm ready to see Andrew Romanoff have to fight through a tough primary if need be, after 2010 that might actually be justice. If Middleton does get in, I'll support whoever wins! I believe either can beat Coffman.
And WHEN Andrew has to abandon the stupid, stupid STUPID PAC pledge, I'll defend him! Remember that….

I've read what I know's available and haven't found anything that says he's not. I know he sold his home during his primary battle with Bennett, but if he's renting in CD6, wouldn't that count?

My wife asked me the other night what I was reading? I told her that I was reading about everyone going back and forth about PAC money and AR.
She had no idea what PAC money was, but thought it silly that he would not take it when his opponent was.
She is a college educated professional with little interest in inside baseball politics.
Does anybody here thinks that more than 5% of the voting public knows about, much less gives a cr@p about PAC money, where it comes from and that it would give anyone any advantage to not take it?
I get that he had to glom on to something during the primary with an incumbent whom he shared similar views with, but here, with seemingly nobody to impress with his couragous stand, just pissing in the wind.
