As the Fort Collins Coloradoan reported yesterday:
Fort Collins resident Bob Schaffer announced this week that Walt Klein will serve as his campaign consultant in Schaffer’s U.S. Senate run.
Klein is the first senior staffer hired by the campaign. He will help assemble the rest of Schaffer’s campaign team.
Klein has been involved in Colorado campaigns for more than 25 years, helping former Sens. Bill Armstrong and Hank Brown win campaigns. He also helped former Gov. Bill Owens and Republican Sen. Wayne Allard win twice…

This shows quite clearly that Bill Armstrong is in charge of this campaign. Walt Klein is an old school numbers kind of guy. He won’t be effective in the new millenium at least in Colorado. It is the old-fashioned thinking of these guys which has resulted in the destruction of the Republican Party in Colorado.
Schaffer should go to at least 10-1.
He’s not running the entire campaign, so why should Schaffer’s numbers drop just because Klien is a “numbers” guy? Or who else should Schaffer hirer?
Why I typed the other “r”, I have no idea….
This guy seems to have been associated with a lot of winning campaigns. What do you think has changed so much that his style would now result in losing? What is a “numbers kind of guy?”
I think BS *will* lose, but because of voting trends and the mood in the state, not because of anyone on BS’s campaign.
I thought Shari Williams was the “first senior staffer” hired by Schaffer. Was that post on this blog just wrong or has she been canned already?
She wasn’t “hired”
The hype must have all been for naught.
You were pretty vocal about Williams, how about Klein?
