Hillary Maintains Top Spot in Pols Poll

  • by: Colorado Pols

We’ve been polling Colorado Pols readers once a month and asking who you think will end up with the respective nominations for President. By asking the question this way, rather than asking who you support, we can all get a good idea of the perception of particular campaigns in Colorado.

Yesterday we showed you the results of four months of polling on the Republican side.

Now here’s the rundown of all four polls side-by-side (PDF) for the DEMOCRATIC candidates. As you can see, there’s been a lot less movement here than on the Republican side.  Colorado Pols readers have consistently believed that Hillary Clinton would win the Democratic nomination, and Al Gore has consistently been in fourth place. Barack Obama and John Edwards seem to trade off the second-place position.

  1. At least one other site is borrowing your code and ideas. Why not get them to do similar polls at the same time in their area to see how things look.

However, I would not give much credence to these polls. Far to many here are in the political machine and do not have the ability to stand back and look at who will win and why.

Besides, we all know that Richardson (or ron paul) will take it all 🙂

    1. But even nonrepresentative polls can have some value in showing shifting attitudes over time – if the polled population stays fairly static.

      1. Of course this poll isn’t scientifically accurate or even close to being representative. But it’s because our readers DO follow politics that we ask your opinion on who you think will win. What is interesting is to see the perception shift (or not shift). The perception of McCain, for example, has shifted dramatically.

        1. They wouldn’t be able to give a good answer because it’s far too early in the race. We want to know how the perceptions of our readers – people who pay attention to politics – are changing month to month.

        2. to ask from other states. If you can get the other sites to do the same polls, I am guessing that we will see things a bit more representative, but it will still be heavily biased

  2. Barack Obama — JD Harvard

    Hillary Clinton — JD Yale

John Edwards — JD North Carolina

    Mitt Romney — JD Harvard

    Rudy Giuliana — JD NYU

    Al Gore — JD Vanderbilt

    Joe Biden — JD Syracuse

Chris Dodd — JD U of Louisville

Bill Richardson — MA Tufts School of Law & Diplomacy

Sam Brownback — JD U of Kansas

    John McCain — too old

Tom Tancredo — BA Political Science

    Did I miss anybody?

    1. You know, the Physical Education work he did while claiming to the draft board that he was physically unable to serve.
