what will this session be remembered for? So far the only things that have jumped out at me, & I’m totally NOT paying attention, is the Ritter veto and amd. 41 hot potatoe. Am I missing something or do any of these legislators have anything to be proud of?
Making CO an alternative energy leader is big with me.
Every state sez that is their intention, but not many have the options or quantities of sunlight, wind, etc. that we do. While I was in FL, Crist, the new governor announced the same goal……..make electricity from citrus waste.
When I was in college the same citrus waste was used to make “Five Flags” brand vodka and gin. Very cheap because of low quality and minimal state taxes since it was produced internally. You could see the orange oil floating on the vodka. Major hangovers!
good for Crist, he did dedicate up to $70 million to make FL an alternative energy leader in his State of the State adress. (http://www.nwf.org/n…) Colorado is blessed with the resources, perhaps our Governor could too?

I’m really excited about not just that new BP wind farm going in, but that CO (hence, America) will be making blades!
I took a boat tour of the Houston port a year plus ago. One of the things that struck me was a freighter offloading huge wind turbine blades, obviously made elsewhere. Pissed me off, thinking of that balance of payments leak, American jobs, etc.
I’ve harped a lot about Big Oil not getting on the alternative energy bandwagon. After all, they are energy companies, not just oil energy. I think I remember that BP was even greening up their gas stations, putting in some solar cells or something. A step in the right direction.
