  1. Oops.  Sorry.  That’s one lie Lamborn didn’t have time to make up.  But, for all the others Lamborn did, I’d say Jay’s got some serious righteous anger needing release.

    1. unlike the (D) candidates, someone who is actually qualified for the job.  Amazingly, he also has experience with actually running elections.  He probably could help Denver sort through their problems, but I don’t think they’ll ask.

      1. .
Are you bragging about his experience in setting up elections while Iraq was still under occupation (a violation of international law) where the voters were not allowed to vote for actual candidates, and thus know who would get elected, but could only vote for slates, after which the people in charge of the slates, who had to get approval from the occupation force, would select the people who got seats in Parliament ?

International experts in elections say that the Iranian elections the previous year were more transparent.  Mr. Coffman’s election was bogus.  Denver was a mess, but at least that election captured the intent of those who voted.  Not so in Iraq.  Unless he has some experience with real elections, which excludes his Iraq experience, he has nothing to teach Denver.

Maybe you want to brag about all of the courageous outreach work he did from inside the Green Zone ?

When someone puts their experience in Iraq on their resume, if they were doing work on policy development or democratization or reconstruction or almost anything other than conducting military operations or providing emergency assistance, they are actually admitting to having failed or to having worked on an effort that failed.  The only successes in Iraq have been tactical military operations (everything at the strategic level has failed) and assistance projects like emergency food aid and aid to internally displaced persons.

Its great that folks undertook the risks and privations of duty in Iraq, and I thank them, but I learned more about successful management and leadership than he did by staying here and watching TV.  Desperate Housewives.  Amazing Race.

Mr. Coffman, a partisan candidate for office, was given the opportunity to write dozens of columns in the Colorado Springs daily newspaper during the recent campaign.  750 words at a time.  His opponent did not get that opportunity.

He didn’t talk about his candidacy in those columns, he talked about Iraq.  But those columns are what got him over the top in votes.  I invite you to go back and read some of them.  They are completely delusional.  He talks about how we are winning.  He talks about how important the phony elections were.  He seems to think that handing out footballs somehow wins hearts and minds.  When it comes to understanding Iraqi culture and values, he is the embodiment of the word “clueless.”

I’ve seen him speak, and I find him coherent.  That’s really about all that the SOS job demands.  He’s qualified.  But working on a failed effort that he maybe could have fixed if he had taken the time to learn about the Iraqi people, well, that sure doesn’t make him better qualified.  It calls his judgment into question.  Just like his published delusions make his judgment look bad.

You like the guy because he’s on your team.  Fair enough.  But saying he’s better qualified because he screwed up in Iraq, you didn’t show how that supports claims to being better qualified.

        1. the discussion was on the ability to win a bar fight, but since you brought it up, he also exhibited greater coherence in the elective process.  Coffman has now won repeated statewide campaigns; Gordon, zero.  Rant on that.
