Golly {:-o I hope it’s not *serious*
Just heard that Dick Leggitt has left the Holtzman campaign, as well as the finance chairman. Can anyone confirm?
Has the “revolution” already started its la Terreur?
Very quiet rumors have been going around about Dick “leaving” the campaign since late last week…I guess we’ll see soon…
No – they just hired a top level RNC fundraiser as a consultant. Same Finance team that has been there.
So what about Leggitt? Did he get fired or what? Who’s the new manager?
Leggit is still there, your sources are wrong.
And MH still has the same finance team.
Quit trying to spark rumors, nobody’s biting.
James Webb to run as a Democrat against George Allen in VA. What can I say, James Webb finally caught on. Lots of coat tail effects will be the result of this. Jack Carter, son of Jimmy, running for Senate in Nevada.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/02/07/AR2006020701852.html
Webb is a big enough phenomenon he might unseat George Allen, in a state that has been trending blue. Defeating Allen would likely kill off his Presidential hopes as well.
Carter is another entry into a Senate race that moves the race from safe GOP into competitive status.
Added to the current race profiles, these two races put the Democratic Party within range of retaking control of the Senate. The top pickup opportunities for Dems right now are PA, MO, MT, RI, OH, VA, NV, TN, and AZ (the last two are somewhat distant probabilities right now…). For Repubs, the top pickup potential is in MN, NJ, and MD (but MN is only about as probable as RI is for the Dems). Additionally, Sen. Jeffords will be replaced by the more liberal Rep. Sanders in VT, and Sen. Lieberman has a strong primary challenger in Ned Lamont.
President Bush visited New Hampshire today to talk about his proposed budget.
The right-leaning Union Leader ran an editorial today that concluded, “Mr. President, you are not fooling anyone. Stop these short-term political games and give us a budget that brings federal spending down to a sustainable level. Don’t let the American people down by passing this problem on to our children.”
The middle of the road Nashua Telegraph editorialized, “Your administration says the nation is still on course to reduce the deficit in half by 2009. It sounds much too good to be true. And while we’re at it, some of those cuts, especially in Medicare and Medicaid programs, as well as for education, could impact our state budget severely. Lowering federal responsibilities by hiking state or local budgets is a deceptive way to achieve deficit reduction.”
And the Portsmouth Herald ran an editorial saying “We are concerned about your priorities and find it hard to understand why you would seemingly sacrifice government aid to the nation’s most needy for the sake of building up armed forces that are already the strongest in the world…. There is a trust issue involved here, Mr. President.”
And the latest news….Bush has added to the budget a social security gutting provision as a sneak, under the radar, cowardly item.
“Equity and Justice” my signature says it all.
Equity and Justice, I’m pretty sure is: “JustAnotherLeftyBushHatingTaxLovingSocialistWannabeeLiberal”

Gee thanks Mikey, I’ve never read that myself. I’ve also never clicked Post more than once. I don’t know why my computer relays my responses more than once, and there doesn’t seem to be much I can do about it. Try to ignore the second one, if you can.

The riots over the muslim cartoons
This article was written about the Koran/toilet episode but I think it is equally relevant here. Why Islam is Disrespected Anyone who has seen the movie Dick (which explains the entire Watergate story) will appreciate this – Why this, why
A Boulder politican winning state wide office???? Come on Alice, pass that crack pipe around…..you’re clearly flying high!!!! Colorado will never accept the kind of trash Alice represents as governor…..dream on Dems!!!! “Hickenlimpdicker” dodged a sure beating…wise up Alice!!!!
“Hickenlimpdicker”? Do we really have a poster dumb enough to think “Hickenlimpdicker” is clever?
As to “A Boulder politican winning state wide office????” you may think that two-term United States Sen. Tim Wirth lived in Cheyenne, but he was from Boulder when he won statewide office. He lived in Northeast Denver when first elected to the 2nd CD seat, but after reapportionment put that area in the 1st, he moved to Boulder and that was his base when he twice won statewide office.
Alice Madden is a smart, hard-working woman who is way too liberal to win statewide. Leave it at that. And when it comes to word plays, Coldawg, don’t quit your day job at the car wash. Hickenlooper is actually a Dutch name and it literally translates as “He who kicks Republican butt for fun and profit.” Thank your lucky stars he decided to stay a big fish in a small pond.
A bit off-topic here, Voyageur, but have you heard the story about when Hickenlooper was getting ready to open Wynkoop Brewery?
True story:
A focus group was assembled and the group was asked various questions about beer, food and their dining-out habits.
Then the group was asked to give their response to some various names he’d had in mind for the business. One name was “Hickenlooper’s”. It received the lowest rating of all the names suggested.
His curiousity got the better of him, and he asked why they rated that name so low.
Across the board, the respondents all agreed that the name “sounded made up and a little silly.”
LOL, BMR. Has the ring of truth, all right. Poor Ford Motor Company even named a car the “Edsel” because it wanted to honor the late Edsel Ford. People just thought it was a silly name. Plus, it had a big, oval grille that prompted one critic to say “After years of building cars styled as phallic symbols, Detroit has finally given us a vagina.”
Edsel folded and Ford lost millions. Hickenlooper at least had enough sense to test the market and put his pocketbook above his ego.
I grew up in Dracut, MA, barely over a mile from the New Hampshire border. It does not surprise me in the least to see the Union Leader, while a conservative-leaning paper, rip Bush a new one. In fact, I loved reading that.
While the most republican-friendly state in the Northeast, New Hampshire is very libertarian, they really take the Live Free or Die motto seriously. There’s no love for Bible-thumping neocons there, believe me. Not to mention that I think as a whole they are realizing they have a lot more in common with the other NE states than places where Bible-thumpers are prevalent. It’s a very cynical state as well, you’re not going to pull the wool over their eyes with this garbage.
