Just so everyone’s clear about Rev. Haggard’s situation, a quick recap of the Colorado Revised Statutes:
Schedule II Drugs
(e.g., cocaine, methamphetamine, methadone, opium, morphine)
Possession, Class 4 Felony
Prison term 2 to 6 years and/or fine of $2,000 to $500,000
Distribution, Sale, etc., Class 3 Felony
Prison term 4 to 12 years and/or fine of $3,000 to $750,000
Don’t think you’d want to be either one of them right now, honestly.

Another GOP bigwig facing possible criminal prosecution? Hope the D.A. won’t be offering any kind of plea bargains in this case!
fuckin weirdo drug pusher, that has gone out of his way to try and prove that he is a drug pusher and a prostitute.
Both illegal.
He needs to go down just as hard as this ex high and mighty preacher.
Where is the outrage that this scum is still walking the streets?
the fuckin’-weirdo-drug-pusher-gone-out-of-his-
way-to-try-and-prove-that-he-is-a-drug-pusher-and-a prostitute’s client.
seem to be only concerned that the preacher did wrong.
You don’t seem to give a shit about the scum fucker that is pushing drugs and possible diseases too, huh?
Or is it ok in the farm manual to push meth if you are queer?
You’d educate yourself to a level where you’d understand that isn’t where I am at all. Let’s call it a “botched joke” ala Kerry — in response to your idiotic rants. Meth is a plague on this society — and particularly in rural areas. If our party (I happen to be a very unhappy R) spent as much time on shit like this as we did on trying to keep a couple of committed people from getting married — perhaps maybe we could make some progress??? Get over the “farm manaul” bullshit — it insults my intelligence and exposes yours.
You sure told him FarmBoy. Nobody should have to listen to that kinda language.
the joke which doesn’t quite come out sounding as humorous as we thought it would sound…..
at least Gecko has at least recognized just how Mr. Jones has set himself up for scrutiny. Last time I checked, distribution of methamphetamines was a felony, prostituion is illegal, and what else???
What other baggage does this clown have? He admitted that he came forward because it looked as though Referendum I was going to fail. He says that this was an on going thing for the past three years, but only recently recognized Ted Haggards photo.
Gimme a break. This prostitute is starting to sound a little like the prostitute in the Duke Lacrosse scandal. Sound familiar??
Ted Haggard shouldnt be scrutinized? You are forgetting that he was on the recieving end of the prostitution transaction and as such he is just as guilty. And he also possessed the meth. I had no idea what Haggard looked like either until this whole thing came up. What does that prove?
How is this relevant to the duke lacrosse thing? Aside from the fact that the accuser gets demonized and rich people get off (pardon the pun).
whatever Ted Haggard did wasn’t wrong. I beleive that Mr. Jones should be looked into if he is running around distributing meth to his clients.
Gecko, this is one of those very rare time when you and I agree…… The unhappy hooker and the high-and-mighty preacher both have to answer for whatever criminal misconduct took place! (And apparently the Denver P.D. reports that it’s monitoring the situation.)
And if convicted and sentence to jail, perhaps Haggard and Jones will become cellmates.
about them being offered a trespassing plea bargain…….
Ritter has his sights on screwing up the entire state now, not just letting criminals go free…..
Ritter for 8 or 12 years, you watch. Why? Because he will do a damned fine job. He will veto some Dem bills, he will work for the middle class, unlike Bow-Prey, a man whose whole goal in life has been $$$.
If you expect your policitians to be perfect, you will always be unhappy. They aren’t perfect, and neither are you.
Or me.
Not defending you Gecko, just remember some previous posts you wrote.
(By the way, where did you get that handle from?)
Very few people agree with me here, but I do believe I was one of the first to write that Haggart deserves to go down hard if he is guilty.
But so does the creep he was in cahoots with. Let us not forget that.
And let’s not forget the creep had a motive to inflict pain and is trying to sway voters by inflicting pain.
There is a guy at my work that is one of the hardest working, honest men I have ever met. Him and his wife are raising 4 boys.
They happen to go to the church where Haggart preached.
I’m telling ya, he is devastated. Him and his family. They take their church seriously. They don’t go around preaching crap or spouting anti gay shit. They are just very religous.
This has hurt many many people. So in my book, both of them fuckers deserve more than they will get.
Problem is the accuser will be forgotten about in a couple weeks, but the accused will hurt thousands for some time to come.
Sad.
I’m far from religous so I really don’t give a rat’s ass about Haggart, but let us look at both of these slim balls equally.
And not put the prostitute on a pedestal.
As far as I have read there is not one person who thinks that dealing meth and being a prostitute is ok. The problem, and the real reason why this is getting so much play is that Haggerd has so much national influence. Whether it is weekly powows with the president or leading an organization with 30 million members, this man is important. He also helps shape the minds of people. That is, quite frankly, disconcerting.
Let’s be frank here, the other guy doesnt matter. Not that he shouldnt serve time or go down hard (this double entendre is just too funny), but he is insignificant. The great problem is hypocracy. You dont call gays murders and then alledgedly engage in that very act. You also shouldnt preach against drugs and then buy meth (thats right, I am looking at you rush limbaugh). And as long as we are on the subject no one jumps from being clean to meth. I refuse to believe that a person just wakes up one day and decides that, although they have never done a drug before, they would like to try meth today. So there is an underlying implication that he probably has used drugs before.
I am sorry about your coworker, but if he is religious as you say he is this shouldnt matter for a couple of reasons. One, he should be able to forgive him and move on. I, like you, am not very religious, but I often hear that Jesus will forgive people and so it is pointless to hold a grudge. Two, if he has such strong faith then whichever church shouldnt matter, because faith is internal.
Again, they are equal in the eyes of the law, but they are not, nor should they be, equal in the eyes of the media, because they are not. Both are wrong, one is more so due to his position.
that wasn’t a freudian slip, was it?
I was in college, in Denver, and my best friend and I decided to go to Tiajuana for Halloween. On the way there a Halloween blizzard hit in New Mexico and we slid off the road, crashing into a guard rail right before an underpass. We were banged up pretty bad, my friend had no insurance, medical or auto, so we hitched a ride to the nearest hotel and proceeded to spend Halloween in a hotel dive bar getting schnonkerd.
The next day we had my friend’s Jeep towed to Sante Fe – it is totaled, so we ask the guy what’s for sale. He shows us some sedans and stuff and we tell him, no, more in the $400 range. He takes us to the back of the lot and there’s a battered blue ’68 VW bus, in space 31 – Car 31.
The rest of the road trip goes down as one of the greatest road trips of in all of history and my friend had that bus for many more years.
You couldn’t convict either of them, or at the least, with extreme difficulty. There has to be a witness, preferably a law officer, and evidence.
All they have to do is say, “Not me, prove it! I was just spoofing.”
Am I on track, Mr. Toodles?
Drug convictions come from possession, not confession.
In response to the fellow (gecko) who keeps ranting about Mike Jones. Know what the difference is? Mike Jones never made money trying to preach to 14,000 people about right living. As a teacher, I’m in charge of about 30 kids – I can tell you that if those kinds of revelations or even accusations were made about me I would be out on my butt faster than you could say it. People who make their living guiding others have a responsibility to live up to their own guidance.
But there is an even more interesting question… Haggard says he bought meth and never tried it… does he really expect anyone to believe that a man who supposedly does not have alcohol in his home, has never drunk or used drugs, chose METHAMPHETAMINE as a gateway drug?
The answer is that this is the one charge he cannot refute – it is clearly his voice on Jones’ machine asking if Jones has “the stuff”.
Just how many prostitutes, crack dealers, or methamphetamine pushers keep voice recordings??? I bet the police would like to know so that would make their jobs much easier.
Let me get this straight. Mr. Jones records Ted Haggards voice concerning an alledged drug deal. Why didn’t Mr. Jones go to the police and inform them that Ted Haggard wanted to purchase meth???
Maybe because Mr. Jones was actually pushing meth!!! If I were Mr. Jones, I don’t think that I would be inviting such scrutiny for the Denver Police Department.
Then again, I’m not that stupid!!! Where did Mr. Jones get his meth that he sold to Haggard??? Was it home brewed???
Haggard lied. Plain and simple. He told us yesterday that he did not know who Jones was. After Jones produced evidence today, Haggard concocted a story to match the known evidence and admitted he had been with Jones. Even though Jones says he was not the one who actually provided Haggard with the drugs, I believe he did. And I believe they both did the drugs together during their sexual encounters.
No matter what naive spin you try to put on this, it just solidifies the American perception of the far right being just a cackle of hypocritical hyenas.
didn’t lie. So whats new? People in power often tell lies to 1) ascend to higher levels of power, 2) protect their current position of power, and 3) will say anything to anyone if they think that the person will believe it.
As for Ted. I have known him for 20 plus years. Do I believe what he did was right? NO. The lie especially. That is just as bad as everything else going on.
His career is probably over.
ES is right on. Mike Jones is a two-bit male whore junkie. There are a lot of them, unfortunately.
But remember, it’s the HYPOCRISY of Haggard that’s at issue here.
Haggard has piled lie upon lie upon lie in just two days. He is about the worst liar I’ve seen. I feel incredibly sorry for his wife and children having to deal with this public spectacle.
It is obvious that neither one of these cocksuckers bothered to speak with an attorney. This story would not be nearly as interesting if they both “lawyered up”.
