    1. Nice reply Daivd.

      I liked your last paragraph

"The thing is, as a Republican (based on your listed state-wide votes), you should love this. Republicans are headed to micro-minority status in this state. This will give the thoughtful moderate Republican candidates a much better chance. And those are the ones that can win."

    2. Fine argument positions.

Should you get pushed on any of this, pointing to the experience of Alaska. FAIR VOTE has a nuanced [but obviously favorable] account of outcomes.

Three incumbents won re-election to the three statewide offices on the ballot: Governor Mike Dunleavy, Senator Lisa Murkowski, and Representative Mary Peltola. These statewide officeholders include a conservative Republican (Dunleavy), a moderate Republican (Murkowski) and a moderate Democrat (Peltola). Ranked choice voting gave Alaskans better choices than simply one Republican and one Democrat on the ballot, and let them express that their preferences are more complex than just ‘red or blue.’

    3. Thank you, David, for your excellent essay on the attempts to kill RCV before it even comes into existence.

Alaska provides an excellent illustration for how it works well. Two words: Sarah Palin.

  1. Gotta say, I just saw an ad calling Ragin' Ron Hanks a big ol' liberal (link here), and spat my left-wing kombucha out of my nose with laughter! I have a strange sense of humour around election time.
