2. "Ink stained wretches of yesteryear." Roger Parloff at Lawfare

   The on-going saga of Eileen Cannon as she helps Donald Trump defend against the Justice Department. It is the tale of a minor skirmish, but well-told. Worth a read if you have time, but it is probably better to take a walk in the Fall sunshine and just read the last two paragraphs:

   At this point, Cannon lashes out again at the government’s “last minute introduction of issues” that weren’t briefed. “Regrettably, I will have to postpone this. It may require briefing. I admonish the government for wasting the court’s time. I’m disappointed in that. The court is recessed.” 

   With some breaking news to report, the journalists rapidly file out and begin fast-walking down four flights, through the atrium, and out the doors. Then, like ink-stained wretches of yesteryear sprinting for pay phones, they race to wherever they stashed their electronic devices.

3. The chat logs came from the Discord server of Advocates for D20 Kids, a Colorado Springs–based group that opposes LGBTQ+-inclusive policies and books. The server, whose logs were published at DerrickWilburn.com, was used to coordinate the group’s efforts.

   “Every lesbian in El Paso county is going to show up at tomorrow night’s BOE [board of education] meeting breathing fire.”
