Well, Douglas County commissioner meetings oughta be interesting for at least a little while. Commissioner Lora Thomas is suing the other two members!

It seems they've been interesting for about a year and a half! Before last week I didn't know about any of the Douglas County Commissioners. Now, thanks to the Pride Fest shenanigans and this story, I know who all of them are. At least I know their names. Here's my take on them…
* George Teal is a tightly packed satchel of Richards and is the reason for all the disputes. Either that, or it's a complete coincidence that Thomas was the chair of the board and had no large public disputes with other commissioners from 2016 until 2020, before Teal was elected, but since Teal was elected Thomas has been removed as chair, censured and investigated.
* Abe Layton might govern if he could manage to stand up to Teal.
* Lora Thomas has the temerity to stand up to Teal and is getting shit on for it.
I've only known about these people for about 10 days so my take could be wrong and maybe they're all just a bunch of assholes who are spending taxpayer money to insult each other instead of governing.
Even if you're wrong, using "satchel of Richards" more than makes up for it!

Do they realize that the rabies vaccinations are not simply to protect Fido but to protect that unfortunate individual out of whom Fido takes a bite?
Besides, George Soros and the Deep State actors do not need to know where my Rottweiler is 24/7.
Careful posting this extreme left wing populist propaganda. The centrists will get all worked up.
Exhibit A:
This probably explains it:
But, of course, DJTJR gets it wrong; DeSantis can’t “cosponsor” a bill, because he’s a Governor, not a legislator. He did, however cynically, endorse González‘ PR statehood bill. 500,000 Florida voters are 500,000 voters.
"Statehood for PR" is a fraught topic. 125 years of territorial status, historic grievances toward the federal government, anger at the corruption of various "leaders" selected by those who don't live in PR, and concern about demonstrated corruption of various "leaders" chosen by those voting in PR, and other complications means there is no clear path toward a future chosen by the people.
Continued (and improved) territorial or "free association" with the United States competes with statehood, and they both battle with those committed to becoming and independent nation.
And the myth of statehood creating "two Democratic Senators" is undercut by the history of votes for Governor and Congressional Delegate.
Add on the usual ignorance of Donald Trump Jr. and it is clear he is picking an end point and then parroting the reasoning of someone else to pursue it.
On the positive side of all that, John, Puerto Ricans are US citizens and can go wherever they want. I have an acquaintance in Denver who is originally from Puerto Rico and still has family there.
And on the topic of DeSantis, the president went to Florida today and the Governor didn’t even have the grace to meet him. It was left to Sen. (former Governor) Scott to conduct the tour of the destruction. I hope it comes back to bite DeSantis right in the ass.
Not a big fan here of Senator Rick Scott. Something about medicare fraud…..
He does know how to govern, however, and did the right thing to meet with the president.
I’m no fan either, but he swallowed his partisanship long enough to show the President what his constituents need. Christy set a good example with Pres. Obama after Sandy. Too bad DeSantis couldn’t follow it.
Several people pointed to comments from Sen. Scott (the rich one, not the one running for President) to illustrate just how much he dislikes or distrusts Gov. DeSantis.
It baffles me how Florida Democrats have been unable to exploit the divides in the Florida Republican Party and find a way to win.
Florida Democrats made a tragic error in nominating Charlie Crist to run against DeSantis.
Crist is the ultimate career opportunistic politician. He went from being the death penalty-loving, anti-marriage equality wide-stance conservative Republican in 2006 to being an independent and losing to Marco Rubio in 2010 to becoming an Obama-Clinton-Biden loving, pro-choice and pro-marriage equality Democrat.
Democrats would be, at best, lukewarm towards him and while unaffiliated voters saw him for what he was – a chameleon.
Nikki Fried would have at least kept DeSantis’ win down in single digits.
I’m familiar with the old saying that one person’s trash can be another person’s treasure. But in this case, when the Florida GOP threw away Crist, the FL Dems should have left him sitting on the curb.
Not political or labor-related, but CU just beat #17 TCU 45-42. It brings to mind the old Dave Edmunds song "Crawling from the wreckage, into a brand new car!" (wreckage being a 1-11 season last year)
Labor exploitation is extremely relevant to college football.
Labor exploitation was relevant, but no longer, Joe. Players are free to make whatever money they can on their names, images and likenesses, called NIL. It took booster payments out from under the table so, for example, a CSU football star can take money directly from a Fort Collins care dealer. The coaches and administrators have to share the pie. It’s not perfect but it’s a start.

Oh. Marge. Honey boo. That’s not how it works. That’s not how any of it works. Who’s goimg to tell this Ignoramus that Burning MaN attendees are jyst as likely to be right-leaning Libertarians? Moddy, you game?
Marjorie Taylor Greene gets nastier than ever in response to the 73,000 desperate & stranded burning man attendees, invokes God himself in delusional rant that proves she has no clue how climate change works.
In true MTG fashion, the crackpot Georgia Congresswoman wasted no time in giving the world the opinion that no one asked for when she took aim at the thousands of stranded Burning Man attendees who are trapped in brutal and dangerous conditions due to intense rain that smothered the entire festival grounds in mud too thick and deep to drive through.
Greene shamelessly declared that she was “glad” to see 73,000 people stranded, trapped, and suffering in horrific conditions because “God has a way of making sure everyone knows who God is” — so he is “flooding them with tornadoes.”
In reality, not a single tornado hit the Burning Man festival grounds in the Nevada desert, but when did MTG ever care about the truth?
Even more so, the falsehoods about the tornados were far from the worst part of Greene’s unhinged meltdown.
The controversial congresswoman launched an all-out attack against the attendees who have expressed concern about Climate Change being the cause of multiple, increasingly dangerous natural disasters around the globe, including the torrential downpours at the Burning Man festival. Greene attacked them as “brainwashed” and claimed the attendees will fly back home with “stories to tell” about Climate Change “causing” the Burning Man catastrophe.
First, I think someone must have, somewhere along the line, considered they were camped in a LAKE BED.
Aren't they lucky they didn't get even more rain.
Most "burners" didn't seem to mind.
“It rotates around the sun”
Actually, it rotates on its axis every 24 hours, give or take a fraction of a millisecond.
And what it does with the sun is it revolves around the sun while rotating on its access.
Frankly, it impresses me that she accepts the fact that the earth is not flat. She’s smarter than I thought.
Consistency has never been EmptyG’s strong suit. One of the largest employers in her district is a South Korean solar panel manufacturer, which she describes as “fantastic”. 53% of the town’s population is Hispanic, so the solar workforce is probably also diverse .
Biden and Harris trolled MTG by appearing at the plant’s groundbreaking ceremony- and took deserved credit for the plant’s success, which was helped by Biden’s climate change policies.
In fact, Dalton’s other major industry, carpet manufacturing, was also helped by progressive policies. When the minimum wage law passed, during the New Deal era, carpet making shifted to machine instead of hand work, which ultimately created a carpet boom town.
In 2024, let’s hope the residents of Dalton, and all the other towns in Greene’s district, vote for their own self interest, and not Empty G posturing.
"let’s hope the residents of Dalton, and all the other towns in Greene’s district, vote for their own self interest, and not Empty G posturing"
Not as long as she screams the loudest about God, guns, and gays.
